Of importance?

The site changed looks.

That's it. Anything else is trifling drama.

HereForTheBeer: The 10th anniversary site update is somehow more unpopular than the site shutdown stunt from when gOg went out of beta.

HunchBluntley: In case you weren't just being hyperbolic: I wasn't really aware of GOG back then, but I doubt that's true.
The forum's reaction to the "Good News™, everyone: we're packing full-blown ̶A̶I̶D̶S̶- Galaxy installers into a selection of popular games' standalone installers!" announcement was WAY worse than the reaction to the most recent site revamp, which would probably have trouble making the list of the top 5 outrage-inducing things GOG's done just in the few years I've been hanging around here.

The redesign is a more long-term irritant than the shutdown stunt (which, after all, only lasted a day or two). But the GOG head honchos haven't issued a jokey public "apology" video related to the revamp. ; )
Haha - well, I forgot about that one, somehow and I think Reaver was around then. And sure, that was hyperbole, to make a joke: the update messed up so many things that having no site at all for a few days was preferable.

For another notable thing, Slitherine is bringing games here now. With their tie-in to Matrix Games, some folks are salivating at the possibilities.
was gog called good old games when you left reaver ? if so welcome to hell
Welcome back Reaver:)

Good to see you again! I got to play Driftmoon (and enjoyed it a lot) because if you!

As for anything new happening here recently, we have a joke about it, let me translate it.

A count is coming back from a long trip and his servant John is picking him up from the train station. The count asks:
- Anything new while I was away John?
- Nothing new sir. Well, maybe with a small exception that your favorite dog is dead.
- My dog is dead?! How the hell that happened?!
- Well, it ate too much horseflesh and died.
- Horseflesh? Where did it get any horseflesh?
- Well, your stables burnt down and all of your horses died.
- My stables are burnt down?! How the hell that happened?!
- Well, they got fire from your manor.
- My manor is also burned down?! How the hell that happened?!
- Well, curtains got fire from a candle that was put next to your father-in-law coffin.
- My father-in-law is dead?! How the hell that happened?!
- Well, he got a stroke after you wife ran away with this officer.
- You tell me that my wife had an affair with the officer?! But that’s nothing new!
- Just like I told you sir, just like I told you!

So yeah, nothing new happened when you were away ;)

Welcome back. You might want to change your chat settings. Currently, and by default, you have it set up so that nobody can contact you via private messaging chat. Just one of the changes you might have missed.

Darvond: Here's a summation of events thus far for those of you lunatics who only appear when the wood spirits tell you to or when you notice the moon is blue:

1: Several seasons ago, a fellow by the name of Linko is hired as both a community manager and public relations fellow. He is hailed by most for finally bringing order to what was once a savage forum and organizing it into something which resembles order if you happen to find the forum on a good Tuesday. Almost immediately after hiring, he decides to tweet out a picture pissing on games journalism. This proves to be a mistake. The tweet is retracted and everyone is cheesed. Most dismiss it as a minor screwup. Users attempt to warn him.

2. With the GOG site redesign practically imminent, Linko strikes again. I've already forgotten the details, but needless to say another tweet was retracted, by this time it wasn't dismissed so easily.

3. The site is redesigned, with little warning or testing. The details will be worked out when they can get the position filled.

4. A short bit after the redesign, and while everyone is still cranky over it, Linko misappropriates a popular hashtag with terribly poor timing much to everyone's chagrin. While unconfirmed outright, it is presumed that Linko was terminated after this incident.

5. A week later, after the dust was starting to settle, some idiot makes a video, opening the whole box again just after we got the duct tape. Fistfight at 11.
Dear Darvond wrote a rather hilarious summation of a partial GOG timeline, that kind of occurred recently! :D

reaver894: Anything interesting happening
Lots of screw-ups on GOG's part. A PR disaster or two. Forum is still buggy as it always was.

The worst: GOG is offering a free-to-pay, online-DRMed game with micro-transactions now. (no, that's not a joke, unfortunately). And many games restrict multiplayer to Galaxy now. So multiplayer DRM has become the norm.

The good: lots of interesting releases. And singleplayer games are still DRM-free.
