They had the Sudden Strike series. isthereanydeal shows Gamersgate should have it, but a search from Germany doesn't list the games. For the submarine games etc., they might have been the only store which offered them (DRM-free?).
The Writing has been on the wall for some time.
I just checked, and every game I bought at DotEmu I bought again when they became available on GOG.
Only DOTemu GAME I missed out on I wish I had bought were the Sudden Strike games. Buy maybe they will show up on GOG .
I swear I had a SEGA bundle of classics in my account, yet nothing is showing up; did they get pulled from the store AND from accounts?

EDIT: Nevermind, I was in the wrong account.

blotunga: Hmm, i have nothing there. And after Dotemu, what was the other and desura, I'm starting to avoid anything that isn't GOG or if not available on GOG then Steam.

They won't need to close doors any time soon.
I don't like humble for DRM free games. They rarely if ever update them, the install procedures are a mess, no consistency. Gog is way ahead of them.
This is sad news, although it was coming for a long time. The store didn't get any new games, emails about DotEmu stopeed coming (including the close notification), and the store was down for "maintenance" for a long time last year.

Even though DotEmu wasn't a major store, it's still sad to see it go, because it's another loss for DRM-free distribution. And of course, DotEmu did have some titles which simply weren't available elsewhere, like Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths.

I started using DotEmu as a protest against GOG fake shutdown back then, and at that time DotEmu was looking like a very good option. They even had Broken Sword remasters available long before GOG did. Sadly they coudln't improve their service or even keep the level they had. When you can't compete with better service or better prices, and there are only about 10 games you can't get elsewhere, that's not much to go with.

The happy ending of the story is, of course, that whoever bought anything from DotEmu will have those games for the rest of their lifetime, as they are DRM-free, so keeping few backups is enough.
Still, it would be nice if there was an option to transfer those games to some other service, even Steam, but guess that's not possible.

And while it's not really related, I think Desura/IndieRoyale was supposed to return in 2017 Q1, but so far there's no sign of that happening... or have I missed something?
Thanks for the heads up, downloading the Sega Classics games I got there back in 2012.

Hey, me too. Did you take advantage of the special sale they had?

I do think GOG should look into a Connect deal with DotEmu for some titles.

Supposedly.

Regardless of opinions, it's still a valid option, you can use it without being paranoid if it's going to die.
You know what they say about opinions right, they're like that stinking human orifice.
Every single one of them.
I had no problems with installation here, but my colletion is humble, literally. ^^

You can get Tony Tough at FireFlower Games and Steam:

So pretty much the same reason ShinyLoot went under? I guess FireFlower Games will probably be next.
Awww... breaks my heart too. I think I discovered both GOG.com and DotEmu about the same time, and actually created an account to DotEmu first.

But I am not really surprised, I felt the writing was on the wall. There really wasn't that much room for DotEmu as a store, it always felt e.g. GOG.com was its bigger brother, doing the same thing as DotEmu but bigger. I've been thinking for many years already how long DotEmu store can really hold on.

Too bad that DotEmu had and has some (also classic) games that are not on GOG as far as I know. Even though I now know they are closing, I am thinking should I buy e.g. the Sudden Strike games from DotEmu? I wish they'd come to GOG. I have a couple dozen DRM-free games from DotEmu, and I've had them downloaded (on two separate hard drives with md5 checksums) already. Maybe just to double-check if any have received updates lately.

I've had quite similar thoughs on GamersGate.com. Not sure how well they are doing, but it just seems their store is pretty much redundant nowadays. I wouldn't be surprised they'd close doors as well.

I had stopped looking at that website a long time ago. It's hardly surprising to see them close, digital store being, in the end, like a bicycle ( or a revolution for thatt matter ) : if they don't keep moving forward, they fall.

Backup time for me too then. Sega emulated games, Dungeon Lords, Fleet Command , Maupiti Island and quite a few delphine software games were all I had there, but better keep them than loose them ...
it is really sad, I knew DotEmu years ago and I had the chance to got some stuff from them.

for the language reasons I got these instead on gog how only have them in english:

Commandos 2: Men of Courage : English, German, French, Spanish, Italian language
Commandos 3: Destination Berlin : English, German, French and Spanish Languages
Sacred Gold: English, German, French, Spanish Languages
Spellforce 2 : Gold edition : English, German, French, Spanish and Italian

I got some exclusives like:

Commandos: Strike Force Vampyre Story and a lot of megadrive classics (DRM FREE) not all what shame!
