Mplath1: Applause for that. Aside from sounding good learning to cook is a fantastic skill to have. Particularly the part about "finishing up" with leftovers. A recipe is one thing. Saying I have these 6 things....and now I'm going to turn them into food, is the next level.
You bet, the best thing about cooking is that anyone can do it too with a little bit of effort, key cooking fundamentals, and fresh, local dishes with basic ingredients. And if all else fails, add more freshly ground pepper, melted butter, splash of freshly squeezed lemon or lime, touch more of salt, or freshly ripped herbs like the restaurants do.
I know it's a far cry from the usual gamer staples of "crisps and candy", but my food of choice is fish and veggies. It's all I really ever eat, though once in a while I indulge in sweets (usually liquorice).

For fish I rotate between salmon, tilapia, herring, carp, catfish and rockfish. Veggies are some combination of spinach, kale, jie lan, baicai, mustard greens, turnip greens, sprouts, green onions, white onions, okra, peas and carrots. Sometimes I add mushrooms and/or prawns to the mix too and prepare everything in a variety of ways. I avoid pasta, rice, breads and other high carb, starchy foods; but I sometimes use crumbs to make breaded mushrooms/okra or pan-fried catfish. I pair with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Grigio (I prefer the former even though fish/seafood is typically paired with white wines).

For most of the day I get by on soda (Pellegrino, Perrier or generic shop brand) and coffee (freshly ground French Roast or Dark Colombian). I haven't had much time to game, but when I do it's probably fuelled by those.

I read Iceland is also pretty famous for fish and chips. Is it true that your version doesn't use beer in your batter? Also a bit surprised that cod isn't included in your list. May I ask what factors led you to settle on that selection?

I was also lazy late last week so I made a basic flour and eggwashed cod fillet last week browned in olive oil and basted with butter, bit of rice wine, and pepper.
Friendly bump.

Oil-popped popcorn is my new favourite snack. $3 for a 1 kg bag of kernels. Takes less than 10 minutes to cook 2-3 cups of it. Sea salt and fresh pepper afterwards with maybe an optional spice blend. Low in carbs and calories while being satiating. And I don't feel like shit after binging it either like chips and cookies. Perfect for any occasion from gaming to browsing to watching movies.
