Doc0075: Ok, where to start with your rant of a post.
Oh, you don't like reading? That's okay, noone forced you to ^__^
Doc0075: I left your disclaimer at the bottom in my reply as you say to "Keep the discussion civil" having repeatedly called BenKii a fool (or FOOL as you favoured Caps for that word).
Now in my book, and I guess most peoples book, being called a FOOL is pretty insulting and not the recognised definition of being civil.
"FOOL" is about the most
gentle way I could think of to describe the situation while tip-toeing on a thin ice of what is still considered
relatively good taste. I could use bigger, less pink flavoured, words...
And I stand by what I said.
I would not go below "extremely shortsighted", and
that didn't feel strong enough...
Also, if
this is enough to trigger some people's "insult mental trigger" - well, it's awfully ironic double standard considering what kind of words used to be thrown around in these 2 threads and then close to noone batted an eye... but alas...
Doc0075: BenKii came up with the idea of the leader board as a bit of harmless fun. For people who occasionally are able to donate a couple of games or maybe have some Amazon codes they don't need,
it will be nice if they get some recognition.
There's already a list of donators. It existed for a very long time.
And it doesn't change what I said, every single point still standing.
Some people can't donate - putting them on a list reminding them of that certainly isn't "fun" to them - maybe it's fun to YOU, with different perspective, but not to them...
Doc0075: I obviously donate by far the most - everyone knows this already so the leader board has no bearing on this situation. It is not rubbing anyone's nose in it and is in no way meant to pressure people to donate as many games as I do, which would be unrealistic for most folks.
You are missing the entire point... but I wasn't exactly expecting you to get my point across... so I'm not surprised...
How do I say it:
"the view point chamges depending on seat position" or more or less the proverb goes
Doc0075: You then go on to berate those who donate a lot of games as 'clout-chasing rich kids, to gloat in awe ( and self stink )' when the reality is that some people take pleasure from helping out others. If you have the means to do so, what is wrong with that?
Now... you will have to excuse me - English is
technically not my 1st language, and despite having had been learning it for over 20 years, I still make mistakes, and I don't always have enough fineese to convey 1 and only 1 very meaning I meant to.
After proof-reading ( before sending ) my post, I was under the impression that I am making it sufficiently clear I mean "future tense, for people AFTER the list gets published".
I did
not call you a "clout chasing kid". Tho you surely are rich... else I would suggest you re-think your spending decisions and prioritize your other needs instead...
I also didn't explicitly state "everyone" just like you didn't either ( you said "some people" as an argument to defend seemingly everyone. Kind of hypocritical hyperbole reverse switcheroo on your end, but alas... ).
Doc0075: I don't normally reply to these type of posts
Yes, because ignoring cirticism and silently letting it blow over is
certainly one of pre-existing tactics of dealing with it.
"Internet will forget in few weeks".
I will give you that!
https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/mobile/000/033/487/rick.jpg Doc0075: your tone and wording really rubbed me up the wrong way
"Good" and "better", mark my words.
Forget rules...
"Criticism for thee, not for me".
Money can't buy class.
And it certainly cannot buy emotional defense from low bar
legit open-faced criticism.
It's okay to criticise the "low class", but when it's the "top feeders",
then it's wrong... am I right? ^__-
Are you BenKii's alternate personna? Or perhaps an esper?
Or are you 2 people one and the same, and it's time to drop the veil?...
I guess the mystery will stay unsolved... /s
Doc0075: Your post is not the way to go about it though.
Awwwwww - you got triggered - well... Can't say I'm surprised...
Having guts to take criticism right into your face is not something riches can buy...
https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/023/077/Leo_Toasting_meme_banner.jpg And if you think using thought provoking tactics and me being somewhat controversial in the community according to some
select individuals is enough of a reason to discard all my legitimate raised concerns and feedback - well that is your right to do - just don't forget, this is a public forum and anyone is free to ignore
your opinion, just like they are perfectly free to ignore mine ;)
Have a good month of May, mister Top of the hill ^__-
BenKii: I can't see how this could be abused.
Yes, and
that is the problem... sadly :/
BenKii: If someone really wants to be on top of the board and donate a bunch of games, well, isn't that what we want? Lots of donations.
BenKii, I repeat myself like a broken record, but, the Tier 1 of the list isn't the biggest problem.
It's Tier 2, being bigger problem, and Tier 3 being even more problematic...
In
my opinion, you should have pushed this as an
idea and then collect feedback - instead you decided to give less than 12 hours notice ( 0 hours if we go by "first timezone that is already in 1st May", which is certainly a kind of logic YOU yourself used before already for SOME "starting new month" posts... ).
Your actions have consequences.
You may bee too innocent to get the point... "society" as a whole is not as clean as you, it's a long scale, bad apples included. You should NEVER set "good people" as "baseline behaviour" - that's a recipee for disaster...
Tho ofc you do you - see what happens...
Ultimately you will do whatever you want to.
But since I, this time, gave you feedback
in public, you cannot pretend ) this time ) you weren't warned...
