Alexim: Even for Best Raunchy Game 2024 there is no clear winner for now and indeed we'll have many candidates because of the parity of votes. We also have a number of rather strange votes, such as STAR WARS: Dark Forces Remaster or DOOM + DOOM II. XD
Well DOOM sorta makes sense when you take into account mods like H-DOOM. :P

Well, I suppose it can't hurt to share who I voted for:

GOG GOTY 2024 -- God of War
GOG GOTY was an easy one for me! It doesn't get any better than Kroutan laying waste with his BOY as the GOG of War. :D

Best Good Old Game 2024 -- Alpha Protocol
Definitely an underrated RPG when it was originally released. The fact GOG went out of their way to bring it back speaks volumes as to why this should be the best Good Old Game of 2024.

Best Indie 2024 -- Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut
Slay the Princess is not a typical game I'd normally play, but I took a chance on it to try out the Visual Novel genre and was pleasantly surprised from what I played. Go in playing it blind and you'll have a really good time.

Best RPG Game 2024 -- Alpha Protocol
I keep hearing good things about DROVA but haven't played it myself so I went with Alpha Protocol since I know how good that game is.

Best Strategy Game 2024 -- Shogun Showdown
It's just straight up fun! Play it now!

Best Boomer Shooter 2024 -- DOOM + DOOM II
Did you even have to think twice? DOOM is the original boomer shooter so it only makes sense that it should win this category with ease.

Best Raunchy Game 2024 -- Subverse
Ok, so I didn't play any of these titles so my vote for Subverse is purely because it's set in space. :P

Best Soundtrack 2024 -- DOOM + DOOM II by Robert Prince (and Andrew Hulshult)
Yes, this was another obvious pick for me. I've been listening to Andrew Hulshult's recordings of Robert Prince's DOOM music for months now and I just keep coming back to it whenever I need to lay waste to some demons. To be fair, I did listen to the other nominated game's soundtracks on Youtube so honorable mentions go to Ys X: Nordics, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak.

Let's start right away with the announcement of the Best Soundtrack 2024!
Surprisingly, the quirky soundtrack from INDIKA, composed by Mike Sabadash, beats everyone with only 3 votes, but a win is a win!

So very few votes here... Such a pity, especially considering all the work you put into it.
Wonder how things would have looked if GOG would have made "official" polls about this.

Yeah, unfortunately I was hoping for a better turnout, but I also don't want to spam around the forum or make voting take months, so it is what it is.

The GOG staff now knows about the initiative and liked it, so maybe they could do something official next years, but nothing is certain.

But now to the announcement of the winners in two important categories:



Best Good Old Game 2024

There may not have been a lot of variety this year, but the final contenders were all very good, with some of them that have written the video game history.

In the end, however, Alpha Protocol came out on top!
This clever RPG was clearly well-received by the GOG users.
By one vote below the excellent METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE, while Resident Evil 2 had to settle for third place.



Best Indie 2024

The indie category had more options because of the ties in the nomination phase, which inevitably diluted the voting. Nevertheless, we have a clear winner, again by only one point, and that is Slay the Princess - The Pristine Cut!

This indie title has become much loved for its endless ramifications and detailed psychological analysis of its two characters, and the Pristine Cut released this year celebrates its success.

To challenge it to the last, there was SKALD: Against the Black Priory and Shogun Showdown.

And now the winners of two categories introduced this year!


Best RPG 2024

RPGs are a popular genre, especially on GOG, so the final battle was very tough.

The winner was Drova - Forsaken Kin, with 5 votes!
This game didn't go unnoticed, but I didn't think it would garner so much favor, surpassing even SKALD or Alpha Protocol, which we recall won Best Good Old Game 2024.

The outstanding pixel art, mixed with an open world structure and a complex game system make it very interesting, I will definitely play it at the first opportunity.


Best Strategy Game 2024

Voting elected Manor Lords as the best strategy game!

This game immediately jumped into the news for being the product of a single developer, and although it's still in early access it continues to make headlines, with each update eagerly awaited by its fans.

Perhaps not everyone will agree with its victory, being an unfinished title, but I think that if a game still in EA can win, it has to have great qualities.

Frostpunk 2, Metal Slug Tactics and Shogun Showdown all 3 placed second, with Empire of the Ants just a point below, anything was definitely possible until the last minute.

Lastly, the winners of the last two categories before the official announcement of the GOG GOTY 2024!


Best Boomer Shooter 2024

Well, this is perhaps the most predictable result we could have expected, because DOOM + DOOM II totally won!

I don't think any introductions are necessary for these two cornerstones of the video game genre, except that this newest edition includes lots of additional levels, mods, and various enhancements, which are always a great excuse to get back to mowing down demons!


Best Raunchy Game 2024

As for games with spicy content, Subverse has quietly managed to triumph over the competition!

Launched some time ago, version 1.0 also arrived on GOG last year, and given the budget invested in the project, the title has remained popular with its fans. As they say, in space no one can hear you scream... okay you get the idea.

The Shell Part I: Inferno took second place, with the other titles following.
