morolf: If you agree that this game should be removed from Gog, please vote! We know after all that Gog is receptive to the complaints of gamers who object to certain games being sold in the store.
Wrong. GOG isn't receptive to complaints from real gamers. Only to 'many' messages from Chinese 'gamers'. If the game were called 'Tonight we riot against the CCP' GOG would never have released it.

That being said, I'm not in favour if removing the game for political reasons. Just as it was censorship to ban Devotion for political reasons, what you are asking for is censorship as well.

Probably it even breaks some polish or eu laws

Yet its only political agenda is that which it pushes upon a fantasized world. Why does everyone go crazy at the very hypothetical depiction of things they do not agree with?

I believe we must explore dystopias at least in our minds in order to avoid them in reality.

As for the game depicting violence against authority, well, it's not the first or the last, come on...

Need I remind you we have Postal 2 here. That game practically offends everyone that has a tendency to be offended by something.

Crosmando: I guess also ban Command & Conquer: Red Alert because it lets the player conquer Europe as the Soviets under the orders of Stalin (even having them wiping out a civilian town with poison gas)?
Come on, you can't be that obtuse, this "Tonight we riot" game is explicitly intended as political propaganda. It's made by the sort of people who commit political violence like that in real life and who want to present such violence as legitimate. The intent of their game is exactly that, spreading a narrative that violence for the overthrow of capitalism is "good" violence. Comparing it to C&C is ridiculous.
Sometimes I wonder if some of you guys haven't spent too much of your life solely with gaming. A lot of you guys seem to be politically unaware, to put it mildly. At some point this "I just wanna game" attitude becomes pathetic and not worthy of grown adults.

Fair enough, I don't really expect them to remove the game anyway, but I wanted to register my protest.
The comment about Gog being receptive to gamers' complaints was tongue-in-cheek, I'm well aware that "many gamers" was a pretext.

Do you know the developers or have any insights we do not? The game does have a narrative, because every game needs one. Why must we compare it to reality? Do you think games are a good indicator for teaching citizens how to behave in general?

my name is capitayn catte: We should probably ban Monkey Island too as it's pro-pirate propaganda.
My point exactly on how ridiculous this is :P. Thank you.

Who the hell cares if Tonight We Riot is intended as political propaganda?

Video games are made to be played to have fun, who cares if there is a person who enjoys a video game for certain things that it has in it let them enjoy playing that video game.

Like WinterSnowfall said so we don't experience that kind of stuff in real life.

We need more video games against capitalism too, not just against communism and socialism.

Johnathanamz: Why should gog.com remove Tonight We Riot from being sold just because it has a lot of violence?
It's upsetting some people, and GOG recently created a pattern where a game (possibly) gets removed if "many gamers" request it.

I think people are trying to use that pattern here.

Of course we can seriously question why political violence in a video game is upsetting so many people.

In Carmageddon you drive over pedestrians for no other purpose but for the fun of it, and I don't recall people asking for its removal. Maybe they have played the zombie version, who knows...

The game was created by committed far leftists whose goal seems to be some sort of anarcho-syndicalist utopia. If you create that kind of game, you're obviously sympathetic to political violence, imo the goal of the game clearly is creating sympathy for such political violence by making it appear fun and playful.
But of course, if you want to remain wilfully blind to the propagandistic intent behind this game, it's your choice.

You certainly are.

Now, quit your poorly planned political soapboxing and go play some nice games that don't make you feel like a reactionary dinosaur.

Move to North Korea and have the government tell you what you can and cannot say if you do not value freedom of speech.

Go on tell me how life is like in North Korea for you.

What the fRANK (redactd, redacted!) does North Korea have to do with anything now?

I said: the "freedom of speech" crowd now wants this game banned, and it's hilarious.
In a twisted, demented way.

"Freedom of speech" crowd? Where are my comments in which I argue freedom of speech means propaganda games calling for political violence (whether left-wing, right-wing, or whatever) should be sold on Gog?
Unless you find such comments by me, your argument is meaningless.

btw this "game" could be removed for exactly the same reasons as Devotion was removed
many gamers don't like it
so the precedent is already there
