morolf: Political propaganda games of ANY kind shouldn't be sold on Gog imo. This would be in line with the ban on political discussions in the forum (which I generally support).
Should they remove Deus Ex as well, then? Evil corporations/capitalists, good ordinary people, overthrowing said capitalists, etc - all those themes are there, too!
This thread is entertaining and highly so.

WinterSnowfall: One last thing, maybe it will change your mind a bit - one can only hope. According to what you are saying, you are a political activist that is clearly trying to push his political anti-agenda on the game devs. Should we remove you from GOG as well, eh? :P

At this point it is clear you want a North Korean type for censorship of freedom of speech.
It's better to just let this game fade away, rather than just give it more attention.

WinterSnowfall: if the same devs made an entirely non-political game, would you be OK with it being sold here, considering their political inclinations?
I'd even be ok with a political game from them that doesn't consist in just non-stop violence. Maybe something where you can choose your approach. Or something which shows the injustices of the capitalist system, but has at least some awareness that revolutionary violence can have terrible consequences too.
But this game does none of that, it's promoting a downright manichaean, naive world view where political violence is unproblematic and THE way to create a better world. It's not just that this game has a political stance, but that it's propaganda, imo intended to promote similar attitudes (i.e. a positive view of political violence as something inherently good in the service of the right cause) in the real world.

But... many of the world's monarchies have been overthrown through violence in order to establish democracies or... other regimes. A "riot" is not inherently bad or necessarily unwarranted in a reality where it's quite rare for everyone to just get along. It does indeed need context in order to be judged, but this, in the medium of a computer game is moot.

Games are known to be over the top and overly violent. And this happens to be a politically-themed game with rampant violence, which apparently has affected you more than it should because this is not what you want to see in the real world. I assure you neither do I. But this is, after all, just a game, regardless of the indent its developers had for it...

If they actually have a hidden agenda of gaining political followers by creating this game, all I can say is that I wish them good luck :P. They'll probably get the loony bin rejects.

I'm not in favour of monarchy, but that actually reinforces my point, just think of the French revolution and the Terror. Presenting political violence as an unalloyed good ("Let's just get rid of the capitalist exploiters, then we'll create anarcho-syndicalist utopia) like this game does imo is pretty questionable.
And "hidden agenda"? imo the agenda of that game is blatantly obvious, don't get why so many don't see it.
1. I despise communism and could never have fun playing a game like this.
2. But I had tons of fun playing Hitman and even some fun with Party Hard, so I don't exactly feel like judging.
3. I don't actually care if this game is available here and if people play it.
4. Any "curation" on GOG has been a delusion for years now, so, like that terrible song from the opening of the Temple of Doom says, "anything goes".
5. GOG itself invited this kind of "please remove this game" initiatives with how they handled Devotion.
6. There is no rule 6.
7. You can all get off my lawn. Or something. Grumble grumble.

Why not just create a mod for the game, change the police over to lefty grey faced male haters? You can pick and choose then!
Hmm... naw, I don't see any reason for it to be removed. I don't think it's broken any of GoG's terms, and as much as I hate communists, I like free expression more. Even detestable speech. Especially detestable speech.

If the game actually had the option of customising the rioters and the police to be whoever you feel like (Nerds vs Bothered About Dungeons & Dragons! Hippies vs FBI! Vegetarians vs McDonald's security!) it would be a way smarter than game than it is right now.

No, the game should stay. Because games don't kill people or commit acts of domestical terrorism.

On the flipside, GOG is not accepting enough indie Hong Kong and Taiwan games of good quality. (Guess why!)

Orkhepaj: btw this "game" could be removed for exactly the same reasons as Devotion was removed
many gamers don't like it
so the precedent is already there
Sad but true. Kofff... TAIWAN NUMBER 1 (if only because Hong Kong isn't a real country anyway).

Why would it be veggie brains against MCDogpoo? It’s not like any of McDonalds burgers have ever seen a cow, unless they drove past one on the way to the shop. More meat in a cow fart! I do like McDonalds advertising campaiign now, trying to show salads and that it is good quality...

Dungeons and dragons Vs old Dragons and Vicars would be quite retro though...
