Orkhepaj: oh right, i knew it just when i pressed send :P
I hadn't noticed until you said it but reCAPTCHA actualy is a protection racket.

gog2002x: Personally, I don't like the reCaptcha system at all.

The purpose of captcha isn't to protect the user or the site, it's to train AI systems.

Just to add my experience to the pile. I've receive today the discount. I've spent around 5 minutes trying to solve captchas, google seemingly thinking it could push my patience again and again even after several good answer, just to train its CNN.
At the end of the day, reCaptcha was such a pain I simply gave up.

I will not grab the discount, GOG will not get a sale.

Stop collaborating with companies that ACTIVELY make the client's experience worse and hinder the customer when he tries to gives money, GOG. Google and reCaptcha can go choke on a cactus.

My same experience. After the 15th time verifying a car, I quit. I will just buy the game on Steam during the summer sale. Between Captcha and the ridicules "find a discount emails", I am ready to move on from GOG.

This is a horrible customer experience. I have purchased well over 50 games from your company, just give me the discount and I will keep buying games. If I could review the discount game around Captcha I would give it 1 star. Even EPIC will sell me a game without this hassle. I'll take DRM over Captcha on my next purchase. This is "Good Old Garbage".
AND THE CAPTCHA LOSES MONEY AGAIN FOR GOG. Other more friendly places to spend my dollars at are only a mouse click away....

and I just unsubscribed from getting these customer-unfriendly e-mails.

Wow I really hate the reCAPTCHA system here at GOG.com.

I love GOG, but it's really beyond me why I need to jump through this many hoops to buy something! I kind of feel that if bots want to buy some stuff from GOG, they should be allowed to do it!

It took me around 5 different "check the new pictures" or whatever to actually give GOG money today. I almost gave up.

Far as I know they have to pay Google for using it. So GOG is supporting the use, spread and development of this abomination.

If you are ready to boycott GOG - there is this thread: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/boycotting_gog_2021 - maybe the OP could add captcha use to the list of GOGs misdeeds.

From what I've read some months back, recaptcha is free to use, but in exchange, it colects data from the user. And it seems that, if you block all trackers in your browser, you completely lose access to functions that require recaptcha.

Here it says it costs money for (big usage but I dont know how much usage GOG has and if that document properly applies) companies: https://cloud.google.com/recaptcha-enterprise/pricing

They could simply use a code like in Steam or Epic to verify if it's you and remove google shit, it's realy anoying when you try countless time a captcha because their bot say no even when you are right, and i personaly dont like when google spy on my activity when im not using one of their services. GOG should respect our privacy and remove this useless feature that cause more pain to us and them as it make impossible to buy games to peoples.
I can only second the criticism here. Most of the time the image to click on is so blurry and low res that it's hard to make out what it's even supposed to be.

GoG get rid of this shit and just let us use a code by email or something easy like that.

Agreed. Especially something like 'select all photos with motorcycles' and there's one panel that has a fraction of the motorcycle wheel in it and the image quality is so bad, you can't tell for certain. Bloody hell, that's annoying.
