we attempt to talk to that alien we found in the dig, only for things to go terrifically awry. maggie gets abducted, it's clear brink is addicted to crystals and low just wants to keep everyone together and safe.

this week in limbo!

that spider's back! but also, i talk at some length about why i'm playing limbo. which is a little important, because limbo is very much an experience, rather than a game that hands out answers.

welcome to raseir!
we've got fun and games!
etc.

you know, those lyrics don't work here, but here's the first bit of us going through the sister city to shapeir.

this week we /finally/ talk to that alien in the tomb spire.

poor dude. it's kind of sad :(

limbo, episode 3:

more existentialism. more death. but the puzzles are starting to get a little more intricate now, starting kind of with the water filling section.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZUfdRgRqkA
picture me saying this in a hypnotized sort of voice:

"we must find the statue of iblis!"

and that's exactly what we do in quest for glory 2, this week:

this week in the dig!

we finally find where the part to start the eye is hidden, now all we need to do is start it up...except that we need two life crystals and brink is the only one with any...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-cpZyI-xRw
as we travel further into limbo, so the landscape gets more depressing. more industrial.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPQWyR1mRcE
quest for glory 2's finale is upon us:

we find a ring, run through a castle and beat up on some bad guys. exactly how things should be done :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw66eVvDKKg
we wind down the dig. :)

that was such a fantastic game to play. thank you to everyone who watched.

a final, bonus dig episode:

this is what happens when you don't keep your promise to maggie.

lostwolfe: i'd like to start by saying that i very much appreciate you looking into this topic.

i figured that - since i broke my silence not so long ago, i may as well tell you folks about my let's play channel, since that's sort of appropriate for here.

so. the aa meeting part:

hi, everyone!
i'm lostwolfe!
i've been playing video/computer games since 1979.

though, the first real game that completely blew my mind was king's quest iii. up until then, games had been about high scores and beating my friends. king's ques iii was the first game that challenged me and got me to think about solving puzzles.

right now, i'm playing through police quest ii, but i've been through all of the [what i think of as canon] agi quest games and plan to do the same for the sci games.

if you'd like to have a look-see at what i'm doing, feel free to go here for the main channel.

from there, you can take your pick for what to watch.

i am attempting to get back into uploading once a week like i was doing before my computer blew up :P

thank you, again, for looking into this topic and thank you very much if you choose to look into my channel. i very much appreciate it.

edited: oops. my url syntax was terrible :P
+1 for Sierra games. They made a lot of top quality stuff way back when. Ahhh... let's go back there for a minute :)

lol. a "minute" for me turned into about five years. it's been a blast playing through the sierra games from scratch and i'm grateful that folks find what i'm doing interesting enough to watch.

but i absolutely agree. there were /some/ terrible things in the designs of those games, but they're great for what they are when they were made. i don't think there's nearly as much heart and soul put into games, now. it's all design by committee and lowest common denominator.

i feel much the same way about lucasarts - which is why i've played the dig. it's just a wonderful experience that you're not likely to get in modern aaa gaming.

thank you - so much - for taking the time to look into my channel and into the games i am playing. i appreciate it greatly.

hah, even now when installing a few Sierra games, it asks for you to specify the install directory, then proceeds to tell you "The game must be installed to 'C:\Sierra\' format. I always got a laugh out of that. Like 'hmm... well that doesn't leave me much choice.'

Makes me want to root around and see what Sierra games I have tucked away in my stash...

yeah. i remember that, particularly in the windows era. in the dos era, i just shrugged, gave it my own path and off i went. for the longest time, actually, i played most of the games on disk, because there weren't really problems with that until about kq5 or so, when they /had/ to be installed to a hard drive of some sort.

used to have a c:\sierra\ directory, too.

now, though, i just put them wherever - i have a f:\adventure\sierra directory and i just mount that with dosbox whenever i want to play something by sierra.
