Slumdog secret agent

<span class="bold">Kim</span>, an open-world RPG inspired by Rudyard Kipling's acclaimed novel, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and leaderboards, and a 10% launch discount.

How will an Irish orphan living in 1880s India choose to navigate the political and spiritual opportunities presented to him? Kim may have been raised in the streets but soon his involvement with influential British operatives and his search for a greater meaning in life will put him on a path towards greater things. You get to decide that path using stealth, real-time-with-pause combat, and dialogue options drawn from Rudyard Kipling's work.

The Secret Games Company are still polishing this procedurally-generated RPG to make sure that it will do justice to both the author's timeless tale and to the players' desire to retell it. The main characters of the drama are present and so are the circumstances of Kim's involvement but you will give them your own spin through carefully-made choices. Like the ones found in Kipling's magnificent "If—".

Travel to colonial India and follow <span class="bold">Kim</span>'s bare footsteps as he dabbles in espionage and personal enlightenment, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% discount will last until April 18, 7:30 PM UTC.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the <span class="bold">FAQ</span> to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
This looks very interesting and like it will be great! I love the art style! It looks a bit like The Sunless Sea gameplay, which I am loving, but completely different and unique as well. Added to WL!

It surely looks beautiful and I hope it will become an interesting game (I really hope the procedural nature of the game does not actually make it uninteresting). Is there a reason we don't have the Deluxe Edition (available elsewhere with a -30% discount) here?

Will keep my eye on this one... looks right up my alley! Still can't get into the "ID" games on GOG, but this one may change my mind.... :)
Well to me that looks pretty awful aesthetically at least.
But no regional pricing and a lot of interesting jargon including an interesting setting, that's positive.
Of course I'm still not buying an early access title and that tiny discount isn't incentive enough to persuade me.
I'm interested to see how this one pans out though.
Sorry GOG but there can be only one Kim in my heart

Joke aside, it really appeals to me. I hope it will get out of beta soon ;)

Real-time with pause combat is a dealbreaker for me. I wish indie developers would stop trying to emulate games like Baldur's Gate and instead emulate games like Wizardry 8.
The concept is intriguing, the art-style looks interesting, and pausable real-time combat is something I like. The India-influenced music sounds good.

Not sure if I like the 90°top-down view; and I wonder if it has (or will have) a zoom in-out feature.

Looks cool enough to keep an eye on while awaiting its release.

I wish players would realize that most developers are actually probably trying to make the best design choices for their games that work best for their game and not specifically trying to emulate another game and be open to trying something outside of their comfort zone and not just write off an entire game because it has one element that they don't prefer/are biased against for some reason.
Looks interesting, but it'll only be a buy if the story or what they make of it is worth it. Too many open world games lately, turning out to be generic and monotonous.

Thing is, in my experience real-time with pause is a poor design choice; it makes it too easy for the battle to run out of control, especially if you are slow in pressing the pause button, or if the game fails to respond to it.

The real-time with pause combat is one of the reasons I couldn't really get into Baldur's Gate 2, and I find that the turn-based combat of older games to be far superior.

(There's also accessibility issues with real-time gameplay that aren't found with strictly turn-based games.)

I'm just frustrated about how many developers seem to be copying Baldur's Gate rather than Wizardry or Pool of Radiance.
