Thought I'd reach out to the community for some advice.
I'm going to have surgery on my right hand in a few days.
(I'm right handed)
I need a game that I can play with primarily a mouse.
I enjoy strategy games and some role playing.
Past games:
Medieval II, Sins of a Solar Empire, System Shock, Deus Ex.
Your thoughts would be very well appreciated.
Thank you.

Don't have a rec, but I've been there, lost my right hand for about three weeks. You have my best wishes. But I'm sure if I got through it, it will be a breeze for you. :D
I was going to suggest the Civilization games as well.

You don't work for Pixie Trix, do you? One of their artists is out for a couple of weeks due to hand surgery as well.
Master of Orion 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 3

Ember might be worth a look. Cheap enough while on sale.

Maybe also a good time to branch out and try a point-and-click adventure?
Really appreciate your input guys.
Mr Mumbles: I put your two choices on my wish list for further research.
Always been curious about MoO.
jeez..I hate zombie stuff. But thanks anyway. :)
Thanks tinyE.
I'll probably be out of action also about three weeks.
Nope on Pixi Trix.

Nearly any point and click games...

Though i'd say stay away from Cognition (mostly due to crashing)....

Actually the Book of Unwritten Tales is good...

Blackwell bundles are okay, i have reviews on those.
VVVVVV can be easily played one handed, particularly since the only controls you need to access quickly are left, right, and flip, and there are multiple keys you can use for them.

Also, Ultima 4-6 can be managed with one hand; while the games use most of the keyboard, there's no time pressure here, and the games never demand simultaneous key presses. (It may be slower playing the game with just one hand, but unless you're speedrunning, that shouldn't be an issue.)

By the way, there's a speedrunner who goes by halfcoordinated who plays all his games with just his left hand because he has absolutely no coordination with his right; you might want to check him out. Some of his speedruns even got into GDQs!
Card City Nights is one of the better casual games out there. Even though Ctrl-click is practical for deckbuilding, the game can be played entirely with a mouse.
Super Hexagon.
Also, stay away from HuniePop. Unplayable without a right hand.
@Oddeus: That's funny but also mean :-)

Most turn based titles can be played using only, a few favorites of mine:

The Shadowrun series
Divinity: Original Sin
Darkest Dungeon
Age of Wonders series

Hopefully it won't be long before you recover. At work sometimes I use my left hand for the mouse, found it a bit uncomfortable at first hitting the right icons, but with some practice it becomes easier, will be a long time before I play fps games that way though ;)
Kind of OT but did Nintendo ever make their Power Glove for lefties?

Maybe that's why it bombed.
