This is a title i played in my teens i guess, and i guess in a way it has many similarities with the x-com titles of today

it was mission based against an alien invader i belief, there where psi forces involved, you had operatives that could use psi forces too or could be trained to use those abilities
the game used a handdrawn 2d background with no ability to scroll around with a camera

i belief the developer was French or maybe Canadian

I'm not sure anymore if the in between missions was very extensive, i do not think you could add to a base or something nor do i remember a worldmap from where you can choose your missions. If i'm not wrong it was a linear campaign

Does this ring any bells?

( btw with teens i mean the period 93 - 2000 but i could be wrong here )

This needs clarification.
Without Psi abilities I would say it's either DOS re-release of Laser Squad (1988 / 1992) or even a Space Crusade game of the same year (1992).

i guess a link in the terms of style would certainly be baldurs gate. 4 to 5 characters, skill selection, i belief a tactical pause was included

another memory just arrived, if you were in a mission you could not scroll around or something, every image was a still in which you could move with some paths to the next still

This is a very nice surprise, i thought the title to be lost forever.

Excelllent!

I'm not sure why all comments are "low rated" ? but know you made at least one happy customer! ;)

In the mean time i tried to download a French old games version but alas, did not manage to get the game working. Lets hope this one will appear at GoG sooner or later

Ubik is based off a novel by Philip K. Dick, so chances are the game is in license hell.

So not to keep hopes up all to high.... tbh all what remains is some unsatisfied feeling because i only played the game once ( to the finish ) and did not have the chance to fully explore some of the options which for whatever reason was postponed. Not really sure if i want to see the game but... it would be a nice addition and a game in good company with others such as war wind :D

Blade Runner is also based on a novel by Philip K. Dick (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?), and the video game adaptation is available on GOG.

Cryo Interactive was acquired by Microids in 2008, and eight of their games are available on GOG.  I have the retail version of Ubik, and it needs a lot of tweaking to be fully compatible with modern computers.

Off-topic, but did Mobygames scrap the accumulated rating scores that were shown in the top right corner of the page?
Looks interesting, plus it's a genre that I tend to enjoy. For what it's worth, I've voted for it in the wishlist. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
