No wonder we never got witcher 3 on Linux and Cyberpunk 2077 is win10 only. Good job Marcin good job /clap clap for selling out. Just remember. If cyberpunk2077 or any other game is windows 10 only; you cannot claim DRM FREE store any longer since you cannot have windows10 offline for an extended period of time. Windows 10 Is: DRM

That's how GOG fell. Congratulations for all your pillars have just crumbled. Welcome to the Big Leagues!!

Lost your costumer.
Pure Conspiracy Crap/

Hopefully a few Microsoft games will show up here....aside from the usual suspects,I would like to see "Crimson Skies" here.

Elmofongo: So Age of Empires and Marathon games here when?
More interested in the Microsoft games that never got a modern relase, like "Crimson Skies".

Retroman88: What a total nonsensical load of rubbish. Windows 10 does not require an internet connection to remain functional. You don't even need an internet connection to activate the OS, you can do it by phone/text if needed.

I have had a system that has been offline for an extended period of time - I use it for emulation and its probably been around 2/3 years without internet connectivity and its still fully functional.

While gaming on Linux has come a long way it is still a ball ache at times so I am not surprised CDPR didn't bother with a Linux version of W3
There are some problems with an offline windows 10. One of the problems I had was when an indie game I had required a downloadable windows 10 extra that wouldn't install properly without a lot of unnecessary trouble.

not what you asked, but the Marathon trilogy is free - https://alephone.lhowon.org/
For my part, I hope that this means we get the Black & White games down the line.

So then: Why are windows 10 updates mandatory no one can opt out?
If people keep claiming that updates break their system. What kind of OS is this? How do you manage being offline with win10? Please explain.
That's nice, but I'm hoping they just give some old games for sale. They've got a lot of good backlot.

karnak1: Part of your statement is true. But if Microsoft decides to make the next Windows always online, how will you use the GOG installers if you can no longer use Win7 or other OS?
Do you still play GOG games on WinXP ?

EDIT: I play GOG games on Win10 on my laptop. Never had the need to use the net to install or play them. They work fine so far (at least until now, that is).
I feared it would come to this that is why I can no longer purchase games here based on principles.

Edit: I hope gog will stay drm free and as long as this last pillar stands I will buy drm free games for win7. After that I have to learn Linux I guess.

Here's the thing - You can prevent security & feature updates by managing services/registry entries or using software like ShutUp10. I admit that the average user is not going to know how to do that but then the average user can cause a lot more harm than good by not having Windows Updates enabled. As an example I do have Windows Updates disabled but I do make a habit of installing a cumulative update every now and then and make sure that I have up to date malware and av definitions. An average user isn't going to do that which in an extreme case could make them more open to an attack from something like Wannacry in the future which will be devastating for them because they also won't have a backup.

Now a previous poster did make a good point when it came to installing legacy components - you tend to need an internet connection for that as the additional files are downloaded from the Windows Update Catalog.

In terms of managing my offline set up. I don't. It is simply offline and works just as it did when I originally set it up.

I switched off the wifi adaptor and never turned it on again.

Johnathanamz: So MicroSoft is officially partnered with gog.com, why is this not news?

I knew MicroSoft would eventually partner with gog.com I been saying it for like four years.

Here you go read.

www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/c0l19p/gog_galaxy_microsoft_announced_as_a_partner/
Well we already know that Galaxy 2.0 will work with other game stores and guess who has a game store... a store that sell Halo and Gears, two games we saw on the Galaxy 2.0 screens... well you guessed it : Microsoft

And if you look on the original article this news come from it's even confirmed (Google translate of the German article):

Karwoski already confirmed to us as a Microsoft partner: "We showed Phil Spencer our app and he was immediately enthusiastic, because this merge of platforms is exactly what Microsoft also wants to promote." So you could, among other game-pass games integrate in Galaxy 2.0. One is however also with nearly all other platform offerers in the conversation and get to date very positive signals.
So basically it's just that Ms and Gog will collaborate to that Galaxy 2.0 can integrate with Ms store, nothing really more exciting that that, no Ms will purchase CDPR or all Ms games will be released DRM-free on Gog.

So you start with insulting me: "What a total nonsensical load of rubbish" and proceed with a "Here's the thing-" in the first paragraph!
I've done so much work on windows7 I'm not about to spend another two years optimizing/learning new OS and potentially connecting to the internet for missing .dll to a game and being welcomed by forced windows 10 update. Sorry but No sorry No No Never Again!

Elmofongo: So Age of Empires and Marathon games here when?
Too bad that if those come, it will be crappy "definite" editions rather than the original games. Black & White should be alright though.

But will you stop playing videogames, then? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or insulting. Just curious.

Because what if W10 (or the next Microsoft OS) becomes mandatory for every recent game and devs stop developing for Linux? Then not even piracy can help you and your only choice would be consoles (assuming that console games will never need always online-connection to some Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo server).

I still remember the time when I was forced to drop DOS in favour of W95 games. It was an horrible time for gaming. Fortunately things became much better with the later WinXP.
