I just bought a handful of older games and a few of them will not run right.

Delta Force Xtreme and Medal of Honor Pacific Assault minimize the second I try playing them and will not stay open. I get a quick second of game audio when I try to bring them up but it goes away the second they minimize themselves again.

Another game, Rogue Squadron 3D, minimizes but also freezes/crashes. I have to use the task manager to close it.

The Saboteur refuses to start at all and based on what I've been able to find, the only option I have here is to get a refund.

I'm relatively new to PC gaming (have played a few games in the past but never really had a PC for gaming so I didn't really get into it) so I'm not too sure how to go about fixing some problems I'm coming across and I haven't been able to find anything through searches. Any help would be appreciated.

You would be best off looking in the sub forums, eg:
https://www.gog.com/forum/medal_of_honor_series#1624422987

To debug each game may be different, and you have mentioned nothing about your system, what operating system, are you using galaxy, etc.

Try the offline installers without galaxy, install to something like c:/mygames. Make sure direct play is enable (you can search for help). Make sure any needed extra package is installed correctly like c++ extensions, directx.

If it’s a few games I suspect your machine is at fault. I know MoHAA changing the exe file name sometimes works. You can also look here:

I didn't even think about adding any type of system info, that's my bad. Not that I'm entirely sure what all would be needed though. I'm using an MSI Stealth (I can find whatever info is needed, or I can just link to the Best Buy page if that would be easier) with Windows 10 and all games have been installed with Galaxy.

I'll try the offline installs real quick.

Ok, so a gaming laptop with a 2080 nvidia card in it. Certainly the specs should have no problem handling those games :o) try the offline installers, yes, make sure to turn galaxy off otherwise it will startup, you may get some screens telling you are missing something, that information would be helpful. Quite likely to be something like missin c++ extensions, if you look at add/remove programs in windows, it will list all the ones installed, there will be ones possibly from 2005 for example.

Ok I installed MoH with the offline install and I'm gettin the same problem. Not entirely sure what you mean by "turn Galaxy off" though. I completely close it and it automatically opens and logs me in when I start the game.

The only type of error message I get is - "The last time Medal of Honor Pacific Assault ran it crashed. This could be due to conflicts between hardware devices on your PC. Running Pacific Assault in "Safe Mode" will select more stable settings. You can adjust your options in-game from the options screen later. It is highly recommended you restart windows if you have not already done so."

I've tried running the game in "safe mode" but the same thing happens. I also checked the settings from that menu and the resolution options are gone. Took a screenshot of that cause that just seemed weird.

Something else that I've noticed is that the game sometime seems to open twice?? Whenever I close the game and try to reopen it, it will tell me another user has the game open. I have to close it through the "background processes" in order to attempt to start the game again.

That link is a completely different problem though. The games wont even go full screen for me. The second I start them, they instantly minimize themselves. It doesn't give me the chance to even see anything.

Ah, sorry, it’s pacific assault. Wiki: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Medal_of_Honor:_Pacific_Assault
Yes, shut galaxy down completely, it’s running in the background. I guess it’s something to do with the graphics card, as it’s not finding a render size. Try manually setting a resolution in the configuration files (link in the pcgamingwiki). Not at home at moment so can’t check until Monday. You can always ask support, it’s a button top of webpage.

Ha that got MoH working. Tried using that site for the other games as well but it didn't really work. The Rogue Squadron page didn't make much sense and the Delta Force Xtreme page is nearly empty. And it says the GoG of The Saboteur should work and includes a download that's supposed to fix the problem I'm having which did nothing since it just updates the game to the GoG version that I have.

Either way, thanks for getting at least one of these games to work.

Windows 10 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q??

Not exactly a computer person so I'm learning as I go. Just pulled that off the store page.

Ok, great on moh. Never played rogue squadron. The saboteur however should work out of the box. I have played that many times on win 10 on a 1060 and 1080 nvidia cards with no problems no need for any patches. I can check this one on Monday when I am back.
Are the video card drivers correctly installed?

I'd try to head over to NVidia, get the latest drivers and do a "clean install" (it's one of the options in the setup). Also, unless you really need it, uncheck "Geforce Experience".
Good advice there from toxicTom. Also, you may want to get this pack:
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/
C++ extensions are used by some engines and code, GOg installers usually come with all the needed, but previously there have been some galaxy installers not installing these. The pack above contains all the 32 and 64 versions, and a batch file to install them all, so that’s one potential issue solved.

Did a clean install and all that did was break a different game lol. All it did was reset some settings that I had changed to make it work in the first place so I was able to fix that easily enough.

Installed all that and it didn't change anything.

No idea the problem with The Saboteur could be. Can't find anything online other than the GOG version should be the one that works fine.

Odd, exactly what does it do. You install the game from the installers, to something like c:/mygames/saboteur. The. Double click on the shortcut on your desktop (or from the exe in the install location) without galaxy running in background, and what happens?

Edit: if it is just minimised, can you press alt +tab? If you hold alt and then press tab this cycles through the open applications.

Ok the new problem I ended up having with Soldier of Fortune Payback is the same problem I've been having with Delta Force Xtreme. I went into the Nvidia Control Panel and changed Vsync and Frame Rate in order to fix SoF again. Figured I'd go ahead and try that with Delta Force just to see if it worked and the damn thing started working. I wasn't having the minimizing problem with SoF before so I didn't know the same fix would fix Delta Force.

Tried changing Vsync for Saboteur and Rogue Squadron as well for the hell of it but that didn't work for those. Rogue Squadron just instantly closes itself now (even after putting all the settings back) and I still get the same error message for Saboteur.

Even when I right click and close Galaxy through that menu in the task bar (no idea what that's called) it will still automatically open whenever I try starting the game from anywhere.

I just went and double checked the offline installs on the website and I'm not sure what I downloaded yesterday. There were only 2 downloads there and now it's showing 3. Gonna try these again.
