"Insert most games in here"

It really depends on the maturity level of the child, and their interest. Most games (with the exception on games like Manhunt) are in fact quite beneficial to a childs development and imagination. Heck, even Grandma Skyrim has gotten better by playing games!

I'm going to throw in Doom 93 just for good times sake, can't go wrong with harmless pixelated violence. It's like watching Bud Spencer's old movies. :)

Trooper1270: A lot of kids are gullible (age dependant, obviously), as it comes from inexperience.
That, and the fact that struggle and experience makes a good character.... Parenting 101.

Shielding your children too much and they will become gullible, less mature, and more susceptible to being teased too much (dependent on the society you live in of course).

It's a tough balancing act. The main thing here is moderation and follow up.

But that's the issue we're facing now - technology and society has already gotten to the point where there is little struggle left, and subsequently little to learn and experience from, than for just a couple decades ago. Giving a child a mobile phone too early rather than let them play in trees and get hurt is actually more damaging to their development than violent games.

A really nice action game is Yoku's Island Express.

I would say it is suitable for all ages. PEGI seems to disagree and says ages 7 and up.
I've seen them mentioned before but I can't let the question go without repping for Rollercoaster Tycoon, one of my favorite games from the moment I can remember playing games. Also the Disney game collection seems like a slam dunk.
