Behind every great empire, there is one great strategist.

Empires: Dawn of the Modern World, a captivating RTS where you dominate your opponent's nation by prospering through five historical periods, is now available DRM-free, exclusively on GOG.com.

From the Middle Ages to World War II, the challenges and tribulations that await your civilization will be plenty. Resource gathering, smart allocation of your workforce, and effective deployment of your forces are imperative to thrive in this follow-up to Empire Earth which emphasizes the diverse playstyle of each playable nation.

NOTE: The game does not currently support multiplayer but we are working on resolving the issue.
Yeah! Thanks, GOG! Good memories of good times...
What a coincidence, I was thinking just yesterday that it would be cool if GOG would sell this game.

InkPanther: Anybody knows that is this Throwback Week title on the mainpage about?
Marketing bla-bla .

BranjoHello: Can anyone who played both this and Empire Earth share few words of comparison?
It's pretty obvious those two games are very similar and it's not a surprise at all since they are made by the same developer just have different publisher and release date (two years in between is not much).
1. Ages span:
EE have about 14-15 ages cover thousands of years
EDMW have 5 ages cover 1000 years
2. Civil:
EE: nearly 20 (don't remember)
EDMW: 4 then 5 (at a time you will change civil - and that is so cool). And they are different in many way, also their appearances
3. Customization
EE Using points
EDMW Research and add strength to units and gain special powers to player.
4. Other minor things
Can't compare with EE2
Aah, another RTS game to frustrate me. Will definitely grab this at some point. (Because I am such a glutton for punishment).

Grargar: Stainless Steel Studios is the publisher? Really? But they shut down 12 years ago.
I guess they hired a good necromancer to fix the problem.
It's an OK Age Of Empires Wannabe, but no tthat great. For me, it just did not have the depth I liked, and the handling of the non European nations is weak. Better options out there.

Evixios: Hmm seems GOG wasn't able to procure a manual from somewhere. I own it on disk but I'd imagine not too many people are that fortunate.

Remembering that this game was once on Steam.. Steam still hosts the pdf manual here-> *Hint hint GOG*

Touwa: Manual for Empires is available after installing the game.
It has a shortcut-link in start menu and is also available here.

Game Root Folder\Docs\Help\Manuals
Out of curiosity, as I haven't bought the game yet, why isn't the manual available as a separate download as it usually is the case?

I'm not sure as that's not what im responsible for.... But! I have been told it wil be added to goodies soon so stay tuned :D
Yes, Yes, Yes, Holly Mother of gog!

Thank you. One of the best RTS games ever made. Personally I think that its much better then Empire Earth series to which its the most similar. Some will definitely also see it as a kind of Age of Empires game which its not.

Man, I really played over hundred hours of this in its time. Also it was the game to play in multiplayer since its has progression through the ages so you could thwart your enemies if you were smart. Also there are hundreds of custom maps available for it (or they were at that time).

Highly recommend it for any rts fan or just a strategy fan.

Thank you gog.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just don't get the enthusiasm of what was to me a routine RTS strategy game...not a bad game, but not a memorable one either.

I think most of us that remember it so vividly do so cause of multiplayer or skirmish that offered basically unlimited unit numbers. Especially multiplayer on ww2 level where you could bomb your enemies with hundreds of Stukas. If I remember correctly the game didn't have any unit limit. Its just went on until everything froze cause of too many units :)

Cool, thank you.
As frustrated as I am with the Galaxy-installer thing, great release GOG. I am surprised it wasn't Throne of Darkness this week, but I assume it'll be that soon. (Granted I'm not the one to be telling GOG what to get, other than knowing what's relatively high up on the wishlist.)
Nice release! I may get it some day, but first lets see how this Galaxy disaster gets resolved...
