I bought the game yesterday and I've tried everything I know to do to get it to work. It keeps crashing when I go to launch the game. The message that pops up is "Empires_DMW.exe has stoped working" I use windows 10. Please help Thanks

Same issue, the loading screen comes up and then the game crashes. Did you ever find a resolution to the problem?

I read somewehre that it does if you download and installing the 3 patches im just having problems install the patches because they cannot find the game.

I am having the same issue with GameRanger.

Since the game used Gamespy way back in the day before they closed down, it views the CD Key that GOG provides with each purchase as a unique copy that is invalid when playing with other GOG players.

I am trying to figure out how to make the patches work or to swap out the CD key in the base files.

Having no luck with either...

Anyone else having this problem?

GameRanger work with Steam and GOG verisons. But probably you (all players) need unique cd key.
Game support multiplayer if you have CD key. Steam provide that Cd key, but last sell it almost 10 years ago. SSSI and Rebellion do not have cd keys for GOG.

Game stored CD key in this location:
< HKCU or HKLM(<-try first) \Software\SSSI\Empires\GameSpy CD Key >

try some google\keygen finded keys - each diff. key for each player.

SSSI and current publisher Rebellion(?)(original and Steam publisher - Activision) do not have cd-keys and probably cant patch game for that.

won't.

I don't see why it could't be patched. Hell, I could probably patch it if I cared enough.

Sadly, will not work on game ranger, says that the gamespy cd key is invalid.....
