A sublime remake of one of the most legendary games ever made – SILENT HILL 2 and its Deluxe Edition are now available on GOG, with a 30% launch discount! The discount will last until May 15th, 7 AM UTC.

Developed by our friends at Bloober Team and published by the one and only Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI), this breathtaking release is a masterclass in psychological horror. But you already know how great it is, now it’s time to make it yours forever!

Investigating a letter from his late wife, James returns to where they made so many memories – Silent Hill. What he finds is a ghost town, prowled by disturbing monsters and cloaked in deep fog. Confront the monsters, solve puzzles, and search for traces of your wife.

Now on GOG!

For all those who do happen to purchase it, please tell us how the performance actually is.

As I mentioned before...Bloober aren't the most talented devs out there. Not one single previous game of theirs is even AAA quality. Observer is rife with stutters and performance issues. Blair Witch...same story. Medium...same story....etc, etc. I also hear this game was just like that as well.

I'm all for supporting Konami...I did that with Metal Gear Rising. However, there's Bloober in the equation. If they have actually quit making jank, then perhaps I'll reconsider. Thus far though..Bloober doesn't impress me at all.

I will say that it is great to see the remake off Steam and here on GOG. I really hope to see Konami continue to play nice like this. That said, as others have, I was disappointed that it wasn't the original. Had it been I'd have been planning out how to get it later today (being 4 am my time as of the time of writing this post). Now it's wait for a better sale. Not because it's a bad game or anything, but because of personal reasons, mostly cost. The original would have been cheaper and much worth going after. The remake, I can't justify going for at this moment. Still great to see it here. Hopefully Konami allows the original SH2 (And 3, even though I have a physical copy of that one) here on gog.
First big surprise so far is that it's only a 33 GB download. Been used to seeing games like this from bigger publishers hitting the 50GB at least.

wolfsite: I'll pick this up. I know the price may be on the high side for some but if we want more games here on GOG from certain publishers we need to show them that they can make money on the site. REally want Konami to bring more of there catalog here such as the Castlevania series, many of there collection games, Gradius series, more Contra, maybe even bring back Metal Gear Solid 2. Plus Konami own the Hudson and a good chunk of the Turbografx 16/PC Engine catalog.

In other words this is a put your money where your mouth is" moment. GOG needs to show these companies they can make money here if they don't that means we will just get drip fed games , if any at all.
That's exactly how I feel about it. Sales figures will determine whether more will be released, and especially what else will be released.

Unfortunately, the price of the Deluxe version is still too high for me. I'll snap it up as soon as the 50% discount is reached.

Considering AAA game can be quite shitty, them not being AAA quality should be a compliment. I like that the game is here, but nobody should be for supporting Konami, they f-ed up a lot.

CarChris: The game came to GOG just today, and there are already two 1-star "reviews" by non-owners!!
These "reviews" should be deleted immediately by the staff.
Great, people like this are doing their part to dismantle GOG. I generally consider such reviews useless, unlike justified constructive criticism.

Please, everyone who has already played it elsewhere and bought it here, please leave a constructive review here on GOG. *thx*

Considering ANY game can be quite shitty, them not being ANY quality should be a compliment.
This is absolutely great news, but I would really appreciate of the original Silent Hill 2, especially since the PC version is the best way to play it these days thanks to the Enhanced project: https://enhanced.townofsilenthill.com/SH2/about.htm

Yes, but OP implies that AAA games are of superior quality, which is true if you equate superior quality with bigger budget and higher price.
GOG just sent out a newsletter discount.

No, I'm implying (nay, directly stating) that Bloober (BLOOPER) is a middling developer at best who was given a AAA franchise. I don't think they have the skill to do it....but we'll see what folks think. I'm pretty sure it's more of the same jank though according to many reviews across the web.

On highest settings without AI-power it can even make a 5090 explode... okay... actually they may even explode without any demanding games, to be fair.

My statement simply is: On high or even highest settings it is demanding and yes, the classic version can make sense on many systems, no matter if those users simply "only" love classics.

Thank you. I thought as much. Bloober kinda sucks. lol. I trust you because you are almost always spot on about this type of thing (performance issues).

Your point being? Bethesda is a crappy "big studio" developer that produces AAA games, and they all suck. Skill of developer doesn't matter for AAA game, only money and price.
