Yigdboz: I'd like to be proven wrong, but the absence of anything Classic REbirth or Seamless HD - despite the respective authors' likely consent to have their fixes implemented - in the Resident Evil/Dino Crisis re-releases doesn't instill much confidence that Konami should be any different in this regard.
While I did play with ClassicREbirth, GOG is allegedly also preservationist shop which sells you game that played the way they did in time of their release, which ClassicREbirth isn't. Seamless HD most definitively doesn't fit preservationist vibe. This isn't me dunking modders for their amazing work, next time I play RE2 or 3 will definitively use that mod.

Reznov64: Considering the fact that the Silent Hill 2 remake is not marked with (2024) and also lacking the word Remake, I have doubts Silent Hill 2 (2001) will ever be brought here.
avatar
Memecchi: There's no need to indicate it's the 2024 remake if that's the only version avaible
But that's precisely the point being made in the post you quoted. If there were plans for the original SH2 to be made available in the near future, you'd expect them to have already emphasised in the game's title that this is the remake. The fact that it's just "Silent Hill 2", with no attempt to differentiate it from an imminent release of the original, suggests the original is ... not imminent.

SENSHOCK: 2300 votes vs classic Silent Hill 2 with 79696 votes. I'd call that low, unless i don't understand numbers.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 didn't need any votes as the game was always coming to GOG. The devs already announced this. So not a lot of point in voting for it.
If you understand how numbers work than you may also notice some correlation between release date and number of votes. If of all the games made after 2020 only two surpassed 10k votes (and not by much), then I'd say 2k+ for an eight months old game doesn't look bad at all.

SENSHOCK: It's in the TOP 10 games released since 2024? according to who?
Voters on dreamlist, who else?

That didn't take long for this game to come out on GOG.

I think you're only going to waste your time, using logic in your arguments. If I remember correctly I was the one who brought up the dreamlist, but I never stated in this thread that if 80K users vote, then only 80K users going to buy said game or if the said game have 2K votes, then it's only going to sell 2K at max. Somehow certain individuals decided this is the only possible outcome. Also, it makes perfect sense that the community rather voting old games, since it has been a common knowledge, that publishers refuse to release new games here anyway, so probably no one is bothering to vote on something, which is unlikely to be released here anytime soon. Not to mention not everyone has been aware of the fact that KCD 2 is goint to be released on GOG no matter what.

Well ... we also should not forget that many here on GOG started to use the platform just BECAUSE it sells classic games. So a big part of the user base is still the nostalgic type and some of those might noe even be aware about some of the newer titles out there.

That doesn't mean newer games are not worth to release on this platform, because that has been proven WRONG several times already. Not to mention they rebranded themselves more than a decade ago, plenty of time to let this sink in. The fact that GOG stuck with classics and indie games are on the publishers.

I did not say so - I just wanted to add another reason as to why so many here on GOG are voting more for older games. In fact I personally am all for bringing newer games and indie games to GOG.

Speaking of wasting time using logic in arguments, you thinking that people aren't bothered to do something as simple as clicking on a title they think won't release on GOG, instead of that a considerable portion of buyers in GOG might simply not be that interested in titles that they can play perfectly fine through Steam, is very funny.

high rated
Only on GOG will they release a highly anticipated AAA remake, and the crowd wants to complain that the original isn't included. Unreal.
Unpopular opinion but I wouldn't mind some of the not-as-well-received installments in the franchise not developed by Team Silent to become available here on GOG at one point too.

Particularly Origins and Homecoming.

GOG store - the pace where you're always doomed if you do and doomed if you don't.
This store sure has its shortcoming,s but I hope its staff at least has some sort of mental health plan as part of the employment benefits. Working here is likely psychologically damaging in the long run.

Same granted I don't think Origins had a pc release I know Homecoming has so that one should be doable at least

Right, just Homecoming then.
Although thinking about it I'd want to take Downpour for a spin too, just to see if it's really the worst one.
