Hi, i have a huge Run32dll.exe problem

Ja2 games have it, it started 1 month ago all out of nowhere problems began, at first i suspected some M$ securityy fixes, so i removed them one a t at ime and inbetween i checked if the game could be run as i always did.

No luck, so i applied the 'security' updates again cause it seemed they had no effect on the games.

I replied in the ja2 forum, added a few more replies /questions, got no answer that solved my problem, thats why i made a new topic about it: Run32dll.exe problem.

I know the current setup is "ancient: almost 10 years old this year ( should have been retired 4 to 5 years ago , but ... $ euros .... every 4-6 years a new setup is no longer affordable since the euro was born :D

Thats why a new setup ( unfortunately with windozer 10( old w7 not recogbised cause M$ wants its new toy be spread to all its 'customers')

Anyway thats why i have been looking for topics about similar problems ( Google) but found nothing of use (◕︵◕)
i cant experiment cause i have no backup tool and m$ build in is crappy and unreliable so i hope you can give me some tips or if you know of tips i havent found, feel free to leave them here...

thanks in advance (•‿•)

There have been several topics about this. It's related to integration with a windows games service that got shut off in a windows update.

I have not had this problem with Windows 7.I wonder if you have a powerful enough CPU the looping problem must does not happen.
But I also believer that GOG should be ablt to update their games to avoid this problem or at least address it with a workaround.
That tiny fix enabled playing my games again on my Windows 7 computer. It has nothing to do with how powerful your computer is but the stupid things getting stuck in an eternal loop.

Oh my God, I noticed some weird shit going on with rundll about 5 days ago. I would start a game, but it wouldn't launch, and this runddl exe would eat 25% of my CPU. I thought it was a virus, but scans didn't say it was a virus. How funny to find a fix so randomly, the game that cause this are indeed located in that registry location Pouyou-pouyou mentioned and his fix works. What a relief and thanks for mentioning it here.

You're welcome ! :)
I lost a few hours looking into that and thought that would help some others too.

More people should know about this, maybe you should post about it on reddit under pcgaming. But I find people there annoying, probably many will say that you should just upgrade to Windows 10, or something useless like that.
I am having a hard time running No One Lives Forever 2. It does not load, you just see the windows loading wheel turning. When you bring up task manager, the game is running in applicatations, bur never fully loads. It's wierd because it ran fien until a week ago, wonder if the fix for this problem might help
One of the most irritating problems on windows is the fact that you don't easily see what really is hooking behind a process, like f.ex Run32dll.exe and svchost.exe.

And many times it stems from bad programming choices and malware.

I will very much recommend using Sysinternals (now a part of Microsoft) utils: Process Explorer, Process Monitor, System Monitor, (or the older Register/File Monitor), and Autoruns.

Another one is the open source util Process Hacker

If you're looking for something more portable you can find them here: https://portableapps.com/apps.

Most likely it will as it sounds just like it would be the cause.

Another question is why some of GoGs old games have gameuxhelper stuck.dll stuck in them.

For me this happened with the game Claw from 1997, another one is King Kong from 2005, both games released before Windows 7 or this Game Explorer was a thing.
Which gog/steam and other games have that file included?

handy tool, i have a few older ones, as for network activity, i know a possible heavyloader: KAV
but i need it to protect the windoze 7 so i cannot limit it , i can but then i have no active protection, MBAM is same, nice resource hoggers but i need them.

Anyway the nvidia driver and experience helper, maybe they are hoggers aswell... after i closed them load got a little less... problem is i have a lot of games using a profile cause they need to disable or adjust vsync... i doubt if that will work after i shutdown the 2 drivers...

I have another nasty old, probably DRM ( Securom or other related) error ...

this one: check attachment: cms32_95dll.png

Hexplore from Ocean ( a meh game i bought retail years ago, don't know why i bought it cause the scrolling is awfull and makes me 'seasick' also have Get Medieval (Microids) same thing, also a meh game i bought long time ago , also don't know why i got it cause it sux.
