Hello!
I'm a teacher and I'm starting a retro game club at my school. Does anyone have some suggestions or ideas for games to introduce to my students?

I teach fifth grade (10 &11 year-olds). I will be focusing on 8 and 16 bit systems so any game suggestions from that era are appreciated. There will be also a competitive component to the club so I'm also looking for 2 player versus games or games where scores can be used to determine a "winner".

I'm using console games as I can't install anything to school computers. (I'm using batocera/retropie on a USB stick)

Thanks for any help you can give a teacher looking to inject some fun into what's otherwise a shitty start to the school year due to the pandemic.

Cheers!

may also be able to do dos games then
Check out some Super Solvers games, if you can find them. Treasure Mountain (I called it Elfbusters) was kind of fun but it's for ages 5 to 9. The way the elves cower when you're about the catch them made me laugh more than it should have.

Hadn't thought too much about DOS games. I don't know if they're as easy as just dropping a rom in a folder like nes or snes games.

well (as far as retroarch on my phone has gone) its primarily been a case of simply dropping the gog install folder into the correct retroarch folder for most. a couple didnt work - BUT - for that amount of time spent i reckon you could consider it
