The issue is gone meanwhile. GOG support doesn't know what caused it, but Web-Team seems to have fixed it.

Wow, people log out of GOG? Why on Earth would anyone want to do that? :)

The "what did just break?" thread

I have no idea, but it is times like these that I am glad I don't have a daughter.

In my case, GOG puts itself into an inconsistent state every time I restart my browser where the header bar is logged in but the page content itself acts logged out.

Normally, I'd just go through the login dialog two or three times and, eventually, it'll actually stick but, after the latest Star Wars promo, I had to actually choose "logout" and then log back in to make it work.

Yes, I experience the same problem too as do many. Another problem I have experienced for 6+ months is complete inability to post to the forums using the Firefox web browser despite all sorts of troubleshooting/sleuthing, trying new profiles, sterile installation, no extensions/addons etc. What is bizarre about that is that it does not seem to happen for everyone and while my standard Firefox installation is rather unique and could potentially cause such problems, my sterile installation/testing is basically just that. I more or less threw it in the "oddity/anomaly" pile and have been using Chrome on gog.com to work around the issue... but... oddly enough I just *accidentally* posted a message in the forums using Firefox without realizing it and it worked. I can only assume there was some obscure problem on GOG's end that has resolved itself randomly as they make developmental churn on the site. Either way I hope that is fixed now, and I hope the issue you speak of gets fixed too. My gut instinct is that the problem is somehow related to the mixed-mode of the entire GOG web properties being partially SSL-enabled and partially non-SSL as that is how the problem acts like and visiting an SSL-enabled part of the site then switching back to the homepage seems to resolve the issue not just for me but for many folks. Oddly I never encounter this problem in Chrome, so I must assume that most if not all of GOG developers use Chrome as their primary browser. :) Whether or not that is true I have no idea but I'm stickin to it. :)

I really don't get why people find it so surprising. Why wouldn't I want to do that? I don't stay logged in anywhere and I absolutely hate those pre-ticked "remember me" boxes. In GOG's case in particular, it's a pretty good way to check if and what broke since the last time I was on.

Be sure of course to not mistake my faux surprise with genuine surprise. :) What's funny though is I actually find it more stable staying logged in all the time than having to go through the hoops often encountered after logging out and restarting the browser. :)

Like HSL, I too would appreciate a screenshot, for your eyes are apparently better than mine.
