Aw, are things dying down already? I just made popcorn.
Sollidottingen: Changing it from GOG to GOG is not a rebrand. It seems you don't understand the concept of a rebrand.
True story time: There used to be a giant fast food restaurant chain called Kentucky Fried Chicken, affectionately known to its fans as KFC, with tens of thousands of restaurants worldwide. Its headquarters, no surprise, were located in the US state of Kentucky.
About twenty years ago, the state of Kentucky was looking for an easy way to increase its tax rolls, and hit upon the idea of taxing companies that used "Kentucky" as part of their name. It's no surprise who they were really targeting; but the company responded by officially changing its name to KFC. On the record, the reason was the expansion of its product line beyond fried chicken; but the real reason was a giant middle finger pointed at the Kentucky state legislature.
I bring this up by way of example, in that it's entirely possible to rebrand to what appears to be the exact same thing. I'm not saying that this is the reason behind what GOG.com did, but it's also plausible that the restructuring was for legal or commercial reasons, and not just a marketing stunt.
