No, I don't think that at all.

Poster clearly doesn't get that a lot of people like not having to run games through a client, especially for older games. Which is one of the two reasons why I'm here. For newer games it can be more convenient to use a client true, in terms of keeping a game up to date. Which is why I'm more likely to buy a new release on steam since I already use it and I really, really don't want to have my games spread across more than one client. Though If the patches are manually downloadable then I'd consider getting the game on gog instead. But for anything older, like Pharoah, Titan Quest or whatever, I enjoy not having to log into steam each time I want to play them. Feels more like I actually own the games.

But the other reason that's not touched upon : community. Which is the second reason I'm here. I've had and keeping on having several fun and engaging discussions with other gog members. A few of which I've gotten to know better over the years. I don't imagine I'd have a similar experience on steam's general discussions.

I don't understand why anybody would risk doing something illegal, when they can get the GOG version from any torrent site. Sure, some people want to see the world burn, but to avoid GOG simply because of somebody like that is ridiculous.

Also, the whole rant about how GOG should have been making "Galaxy a million times better than Steam", is straight up wrong, and proves a failure to understand competition. Ask any successful business if they found success by being better than their competition, or by offering a product for a niche audience.

This reminds me of the ending of Wolf of Wall Street, where during Leo's presentation, the audience is glued to their sits, hoping to catch a small detail that might make them as successful as Leo, because surely all they have to do is to imitate his journey.

This is a prime example of political/economical evolution, for better of worse.

Like when on the international arena more and counties are letting themselves be biased / pressured by China for excluding Taiwan in every official matters.

I'm not saying I agree with everything they do, but I understand why they sometimes must do what they can to survive or "ease/please" their (future) partners, even on certain idiotic premisses. The fact that a company continue to force certain "options" upon their own costumers says something about them, and in the end it will not be survivable.

On the other side, Steam fans totally ignore the fact that Steam is THE money wheel in Valve, as they stopped making something that really matters and just let the junk pile up to their nose.

In between or outside of this, it's a well known fact that piracy (or any kind of "unlawful" behaviour) is a result of an unstable, chaotic (power) marked.

Very much this as the GOG community seems to be WAY more mature/older. Heck, ref the paper that came out not long ago, based on the level of the grammar/language of those that wrote on Steam, it seemed, on the average, to be on parr with the level of a ten year old... or third grade! Kinda like most music pieces made today!
