Red_Avatar: Seriously, Apple should be ashamed for releasing something so ridiculously bad at such a high price.

Navagon: Why? That's standard procedure for them.

Very true but this is the worst crippled product I've seen in a long time. It's not so much what it does have but more what it does NOT have. Typical of Apple to use custom ports meaning you'll be forced to shell over a LOT of extra money for cheap extras like a webcam, external keyboard, etc.

It actually makes the PSP Go look like less of a joke by comparison. Well, almost.
But yes, the actual value of Apple's hardware has decreased substantially over the past five or more years. Most of that is down to their imposed restrictions. Which seem to now have become so overbearing as to make their hardware completely useless.
I read this great comment on Kotaku:
"How will people in Boston know if you're talking about the iPod or iPad?
Attached, iPad vs stone.

This was how the iPad was created.

Huh, that's like when a friend of mine fries hamburgers...
I'm waiting for these things:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/mirasol-shows-prototype-reader-like-device-playing-back-color-vi/
Sounds like there might be a new kindle with a mirasol display later this year... if they can make it a tablet (WITH a stylus) then that'll be the one to beat.

Lawdy... The game is kinda entertaining, but absolutely retarded. Which was his intention. He is also absolutely insane, which I'm sure you've already noticed, but fairly harmless.

Rohan15: I bet that thing is super fragile...
*HULK SMASH!!!!*
*Taps iPad and it shatters.*
*RRRRAAAWWWWWGHHH!!!!*

W-w-w-what?
It's a friggin piece of glass on top of an IPS LCD on top of some thin bits of stuff and unicorn blood all cased in easily scratched aluminum. If you own an iPod then you know it's going to be horrible.
A nice article on The Future of Reading with some valid points in favour of the iPad.
The iPad is nothing but a larger iPod touch. At least my iPhone works as a phone.
They're marketing the iPad as a computer, something that may compete with netbooks and tablet pcs. But there's a big flaw in it's design - customization limitation.
You can't change the interface, you can't change the layout, you're limited in choice to program choice to only apple approved applications, etc.
I'm going to wait for the HP Slate. At least there I have the ability to customize and install what I want without having to void a warranty to do it.
