Miaghstir: Seems some of the "no"-voters changed their mind.

LOL okay, now that's just funny.
Congratz!
Now who is he?

Man, you haven't been following any of the threads on Australian game politics, have you?
Police anti-corruption branch possibly being brought in? BAHAHAHA! That's too funny. I thought GAMERS were the criminals.
Here's hoping we get a chance at rejoining the rest of the world in a semi-liberal minded position on censorship.

Think of your most loathed dictator, then give him an Australian accent.

Nope, not really. That's the douche then...

Well he sued someone for calling him a crook, seems to me that someone was a bit too close to the rather obvious truth

I love irony. Well, in this case.
It'll be interesting to see if we actually get told about the results of whatever inquiry may happen. Kind of hoping the government won't keep it from the public "for legal reasons", and let the majority of anti-censorship Australians gloat.
Somewhat related, but can anyone tell me if MW2 in Australia (you know, with the funny MA15+ sticker on it and the picture of Soap MacTavish drinking a beer -- OK I made the last one up) is censored? Against my better judgment and because of peer pressure I'm getting MW2 but the only retail boxes I see are from Australia.

Nope, it's the uncensored version pushed into the MA15 classification.
There's some info here if you scroll down a bit that explains about the 'controversy' of the game here.
Unless there are changes/updates since, the MA15 is the R18 version.

The amusing bit is that it'd have been R18+ if we'd HAD one but instead, younger people could buy it. Way to protect the public twatkinson
The new AG has been announced
http://www.gamepron.com/news/2010/03/23/john-rau-new-south-australian-ag/
According to one of the Gamers4Croydon guys (http://twitter.com/chris4croydon), this new bloke is pro R18+! Let there be dancing in the streets and children being denied things they shouldn't have!
Then again soon we'll be fighting china in an internet censorship battle royale so we need SOMETHING to lift our spirits...
Could be a good sign. It's still a wait and see what he's like though. R18 games was not the only issue people had with Atkinson, but one that affected the country wide gaming population.
Net censorship plans continue. Though they also continue to be delayed as well, it's not sounding good from the stubborn determination to go ahead with continuing to promote it.
Now you folks just need to find a way to get rid of Conroy to slow down the whole internet censorship thing.
Australia just needs to accept their Ameri---I mean reptillian overlords :D
