Aren't they a bit slow with this? I'm sure I've seen it advertised as GOTY edition on a few websites this last few weeks....

Game of the year means nothing anymore, its just a fancier codename for "Original Game + Addons"

TBH Fallout 3 GOTY Edition IS pretty close to the top of the contenders for GOTY. Vanilla no but once you add all the extra content it is a huge and enjoyable game.

How long before this turns into a Fallout 3 bashing thread? Oh, too late...

And? Seeing as how it is an arbitrary choice.. it really doesn't mean anything at all.
I like Fallout 3.. but, to me, it is no where near the Game of the Year. Of course, my Game of the Year won't match everyone elses.
I really hate these ridiculous titles that get thrown around - they tend to be based off from sales and not cumulative reviews, or who has the biggest backing financially.
Oh well, doesn't affect me - it won't be my Game of the Year but I guess its good for the diehard FO 3 fans (I am too much an old school FO fan) and the company.

They aren't a bit slow, they're merely giving us news from the 27th Golden Joystick awards.
They may say it's their Game of the Year, but I couldn't possibly comment.

Game of the Fail
Seriously, F3 has nothing that made the first two so great. It's jsut a modern gore version of SoF placed into Fallout universe.

You know what? Game of the Year is an entirely subjective category. Just because you thought Fallout 3 was disappointing doesn't mean others did. Others may have loved it, and that's why it's THEIR GOTY. Just because they say it's that doesn't mean it's yours as well. I bet some people will call Arkham Asylum their Game of the Year, while others will choose Uncharted 2 or something else for that honor.
I actually enjoyed Fallout 3 a lot. Even people who liked Fallout 1 and 2 have those who really, really like it. In the end, we really shouldn't care what they choose, as long as it isn't something completely mad, like Family Feud 2010.

Fair enough its not a proper Fallout game. Still does not change the fact it is a fine game in its own right.

So the GOTY edition is out? Maybe I'll finally snag a copy if they sorted most of the numerous bugs in the initial release and once the price drops a bit.

I picked it up since it means you either get the game for free or the DLC for free (depending how you want to look at it).
