I remember that Mr. Marcin Iwiński said a while ago that they where thinking what kind of game they would want to do besides Witcher, with a new team. They obviously chose a cyberpunk game which will be Cyberpunk 2077.
In 2014 the Witcher 3 team will finish the game and they probably will look at what to make next (i guess they do want a bit of break from Witcher, not that its last Witcher game they will EVER make, but I gues they would want a little break from it).
I always thought that CDProjekt Red is the kind of RPG developers that could actually pull a good Space Opera RPG. Personally I always wanted an alternative to Mass Effect, I do like that francize, but I dont like the way its heading atm (no need to elaborate) so a good alternative would be nice. There are simply no alternatives on the market atm. There where some..like Prey 2 (which wasnt really an RPG, but it could be classified as space opera game), but seems its been delayed for a long time.
Would you guys also think that CDProjekt Red is a perfect team to go and make an awesome space opera rpg ? Its a really shame that there are so few on the market, but I think they could really pull this off. It would be cool if the Witcher team goes for this kinda of game after they finish Witcher3.
A game where you explore various planets , futuristic cities , interact with strange aliens, see the vastness of the universe. You can combine so many types of genres in game like this, you can even make some driving sections, some space sim combat etc etc, not just usual action rpd. Its a hard type of game to make, but after i saw Witcher 2 I am sure this team could pull this off.
If you guys think this is a nice idea for their next project, please support this, this is their forum after all and im sure they keep an eye on it. Thanks for reading !
Space opera... hmm, a game in the Cowboy Bebop universe might be interesting, at least if it captures the feel from the movie and series.
The Witcher in Space?
I'd be most curious about the gameplay. I wonder if they'd go straight up shooter. That does seem like the most logical but I'd like to see them do something different.

Also, if they include space combat in the game it would automatically give it an edge over both Mass Effect and Kotor so, if any of them are listening, this is a freebie for them.
i vote for witcher in space, everything's the same but Geralt floats in space and rides horse among the stars. GOTY.
Shagging and collecting cards of various species across the galaxy! Swordfighting with spaceships! Mixing stars of different colours into potions!
Well, they could take a leaf out of the first Ultima in which you prove your worthiness by finding a spaceship and flying into space. From then on, the player bears witness to a whole new world.

Or alternatively, they could make a significantly less linear alternative of Mass Effect. (One which allows you to choose multiple races and skills)
Imagine if you are a bounty hunter with your own little ship and you are free to explore the stars. Go to different planets, meet new aliens and learn about their cultures, do quests and see the story. Get credits and upgrade your ship so you can make it bigger and bring a crew which will become your party. And ofc a good plot , like CDPR showed in Witcher games (hopefully not Reapers are coming, we are doomed).
There are so many things you could do and see. I think CDPR are a perfect studio to make this kind of game.
There are simply too few of these games on the market, let alone RPGs. The only ones I can think of are Star Wars Kotor 1,2 (its been 8 years since last one, Bioware made a crappy mmo after) and Mass Effect (which is good but I dont like where they are heading with it). These are the only ones I can think , the only space opera games in the last decade (PC gamer in general , so if i missed some on consoles do tell).

Someone needs to make a remake of Ultima 2, in all its spaceships and Hotel California glory.

nijuu: The Witcher in Space?
Hehe, thought about that as well. Haven't played much of the first Witcher, but I like it and I think CDProjekt RED would make a great game, especially if what they achieve what they want to with TW3! And with Cyberpunk!!

I'd really love to have a more open Mass Effect-like game, in fact, that's what I'm waiting for the whole time since ME3 has come out (can't wait to see what they have in mind for ME4, not getting my hopes up though...)

Captain Kirk? Is that you?
I'm sure they could do it, but I'm glad they chose Cyberpunk because that genre is woefully underrepresented. And if it's successfull I'm sure they'll do a franchise. If they did space opera, I'd like a blend of ME1 and X Terran games.

You might like Precursors, if you're willing to put in a bit of effort to install sound and translation fixes.
mixing up Anachronox,The Witcher,Cowboy Bebop,Gundam and a bit of Pilot Candidate and Patlabor will be very nice
