The comic really is awesome, I've read through it and I absolutely cannot wait for the second issue and for the release of the game. Enjoy

Warning: Contains Significant Plot Spoilers for the Upcoming Game.

GameRager: I wonder if they retconned the whole second game as in Invisible War they claimed(somehow) in it's plot and loading screen blurbs that all 3 Deus Ex 1 endings were canon, which isn't possible btw......gahhhh
It's a prequel so it's been rebooted rather than retconned.

GameRager: Prequel to which? Both of them or just a prequel to Invisible War?
Human Revolution is set before the original Deus Ex, it's what we call a reboot of the franchise.
avatar
GameRager: I know what a reboot is....:P
Then surely I don't have to tell you why the tech is different?
avatar
GameRager: But c'mon that can't be right......in the Original Deus Ex's storyline nano augmentation is still in experimental stages and even mechanoaugmentation is rare. Yet in the trailer for human revolution the guy clearly has nano augs.
Also in Deus Ex Mechanical Augmentation was being phased out. JC was was one of the first UNATCO agents to receive Nano Augmentation. Nothing in what I have seen on DE:HR leads me to believe they are using Nano Aug.

I'm still trying to decide if I should get the game on Xbox or PC. If it's a port of the console controls and doesn't support modding why bother with the PC version. :/

GameRager: BTW my point in saying mechanoaugs were in Deus Ex is that is this is a prequel(reboot or no) then shouldn't the main character be mostly mechanoaugmented for it to be accurate?
He is implanted with Mechanical Augs. In one of the previews its made clear Adam wasn't implanted voluntarily therefore it's likely his eyes have been replaced with bionics. It's advanced stuff and Human Revolution is all about the start of the Cyberware revolution but it's not the futuristic Nano Augmentation seen in Deus Ex and Invisible War.
also in case anyone missed it:

This website is filled with story, music, atmosphere and even a hacking minigame. They put more care into this site than most devs do for the actual game.

The more I hear and see about this game the more I am certain that it will actually be a quality product

Although the tech is far closer to the mechanical augmentation of the original, there's no way that some of that tech would be possible without being manufactured via nanobots. So it's a 50 / 50 kind of thing, really.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it illegal to share scans of comics that cost money? If not, then forget I said anything, and I'm sorry for my ignorance.

Possibly nano tech in construction of the parts and in the surgery involved (we are close to nano construction at the moment) but not the level seen in Deux Ex and IW. Adam is very much at the cutting edge of the tech used for agents like Anna Navarra.

Shame we never got to see Gunther having scalpels emerge from his forearms.
It's not a reboot it's a prequel... there IS a difference.

As for why augmentation seems more spread about than in Deus Ex, well... creative license I would guess. I doubt that is the only continuity mishap.

Yeah, that's what I meant in a way. Only in the original Deus Ex it was all pistons, wires and other clunky shit that could be cobbled together in a modern day factory. There was not even the merest hint of nanotechnology being used in their augmentations' production.

Compare the eyes of Anna and Gunther to those of Adam. No contest, really. Adam might not be at Denton's level in many ways. But the tech behind his augmentations' production is a lot closer than the mechs in Deus Ex.

They promised him scalpels but he got lemon-lime instead.

Not as much "creative license" as "We're the ones who HAVE the license, now. So suck it."
