GameRager: If it's partially non canon then it IS a reboot AND a prequel I believe.
It is canon, they have never said otherwise. It is an official Deus Ex product from the same publisher, just set before the original. Think of it like the Star Wars prequels.

GameRager: If it has major story inconsistencies with the originals then you bet your butt i'm gonna call it a reboot....
It doesn't really, at least none we know of. Maybe augmentations are more widespread than Deus Ex let on, we can't be sure, but that alone is not enough to call it non-canon, not by a long shot.

More to the point the developers have said plainly it is a prequel and part of the Deus Ex story.

Roman5: <snip>
So why are you, like, illegally distributing it?

Human Revolution is pipping my upcoming games wishlist just above Witcher 2.

Call me naive, but I have to say Human Revolution is probably my biggest want of 2011 at this point with Rage in second and The Witcher 2 in third.

If they ever announce Red Dead Redemption for PC that would probably shoot to first though.

Don't forget that there are a lot of things that can be stuck in the "experimental stage" for decades. Take jet or rocketpacks, for instance. We've been working on those suckers for the better part of a century. We've also been working on cures for various diseases that have been around for that long. The scientific method isn't so refined that we can shift everything out of the "experimental stage" in five or ten years. If you've ever watched Star Trek TNG, nanotechnology was still "experimental" even in the 24th Century, at least as far as programming robots the size of atoms.
It's already been taken down, but there's discussion from those that saw it and translated it it on the official DX3 forum:

A few points:
- Reloading guns takes a fairly long time.
- Like Irate pointed out, using takedowns early in the game drains a lot of energy.
- Mission objectives are shown on-screen (in the room, not just on the map) with a yellow marker. Although you don't know how to best get to an objective, you still know its final location.
- Augmentation energy (?) is recharged through consumables (google translate calls them "snacks"
- Hacking minigame is good and nearly has the depth of an RTS.
- Conversation battles can also occur in certain scripted events in the heat of battle.
- There's tons of stuff to read on datapads, computers, in newspapers etc. Some of it directly relevant to the mission, some of it relevant to the larger picture.
- According to the author, the game might be too demanding of today's players in that investing in the wrong weapon or augmentation means having to start the game (level?) over again.

If we are to believe this preview, cover mechanics, AI and conversations/dialogue are all good. Provided the first 3 hours of gameplay is any indication of the rest of the game, it will live up to the Deus Ex name.

-unbelievably detailed levels
-loot of corpse included pistol and some credits.
-not a lot of room to breath when in combat no matter what difficulty.
-the testers were stuck, lol. They were trying to build a bridge with boxes, but it didn't work. The lead designer of DEHR told them to look at one of the places where they removed the boxes, and there was a ventilation shaft which wouldn't be visible if they hadn't removed the boxes.
-enemies react on noises you make when running, jumping.
-hacking minigame takes a long time to really master and has rts-depth.
-they say DEH is impressive on a technical level, even though the facial animations aren't that good
-Doing a takedown costs 'a whole energy cell' which you need to activate augmentations. They started with only two energy cells, which automatic regeneration is slow as hell. Consumables speed up the regeneration of energy.
