Wow, that was bad.

Funny how they were still called "floppy" disks when they were in hard shells - not impervious, of course, but they weren't "floppy".

Coelocanth: And yet people still copy and guess what? The game market has ballooned since then to a multibillion dollar industry. Too bad copying will kill the industry...

Leroux: Maybe it really died in the 90's and what we're experiencing today is just a giant undead abomination. ;)
AAA-bomination, perhaps? ;)

That is true, floppy made a lot more sense for the 5.25 inch disks.

IAmSinistar: And why is hip-hop always the go-to style for trying to make some public service message sound cool? Everyone knows that only works when coupled with sentient raisins.
Actually they updated that for today's youth: Read a Motherfucking Book (NSFW)

Dear gods that's funny! Thank you.

blotunga: Telling pirates that copying is a crime won't stop them. Affordable prices will. I know because it worked for me.
:)
Oh wow I'm about to watch this now lol

I noticed that PIXAR was credited on the first video. My how their animations have improved! I've got what I thought were all of PIXAR's earlier works, and this wasn't included! lol

So I notice Don't Copy 2 changed from trying to use guilt based on moral choice to the newfound mantra of "It's a crime!"

You wouldn't steal a baby...

Edit: lol just reading back and saw this was already linked. Well done! :)

Arghmage: I still love "Home Fucking Is Killing Prostitution". So stand up and do something, it is getting serious!
I'm doing by best to eradicate prostitution but I'm only one man!

*waits for Pimpmonkey to add his support to this cause*

IAmSinistar: What got me to stop buying games? Draconian copy protection. What got me to start buying them again? DRM-free.

Maybe we need a song from our side - Don't Hobble My Hobby!
Then flog our GOG!

Guilt based... Yeah... Richard stallman points out they called it piracy so you associate it with something far worse.

When they compare people who share software with pirates, what are they really saying? They're saying that helping your neighbour is the moral equivalent of attacking a ship. Morally speaking, nothing could be more wrong than that, because attacking ships is very bad, but helping your friends and your neighbours is good. So, don't call it ”piracy”. When they call it ”piracy”, say ”No”. When people ask me what do I think of ”piracy”, I say ”Attacking ships is very bad”. And when they ask me what I think of ”software piracy” or ”music piracy” I say ”As far as I know, pirates don't attack using computers or by playing musical instruments badly, they use arms”. Don't fall into the trap of repeating the enemy's propaganda.
Baron Samdi possesed their computer? :)

That's a brilliant article, thanks for linking it :)

This is hilarious!
I never felt wrong giving/receiving music/movies/games to/from my friends or family members and I never will.

I don't know. It makes ridiculous statements like the following :

"One evil is to give your friend a copy and violate the license of the program; the other evil is to deny your friend a copy and comply with the license of the program. If you're in the dilemma, you ought to choose the lesser evil which is to give your friend a copy and violate the license of the program. What makes this evil the lesser evil? Well, if you can't avoid doing wrong to somebody or other, it's better to do wrong to the one who deserves it: the developer of the program. You see, we can assume that your friend is a good friend and a good member of your community and normally deserves your cooperation. By contrast, the developer of this proprietary program has deliberately attacked the social solidarity of your community."

I have a bit of trouble taking such a blatant anti-capitalist/pro-socialist hippie pseudo-anarchist statement seriously, calling into question the validity and rationality of the rest. This isn't a "Heinz Dilemma" afterall.

FYI : This is the guy making these insipid statements :
