Oh my.
Cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool.
DF looked FUGLY when I played it last. This might help :P
Ooh, fancy. I don't mind ASCII games too much, but that looks pretty enough that it might help me ease myself into DF (then probably switch to the less-eye bleedingly bright ASCII version anyway).
Excellent ! I'll certainly dive into DF now !
i could never get into the game because of the AS's'CII But now I might just give it a try i LOVE the ideals behind the game, i just could never remember all the icons for what meant what with the interface.
My bro raved about DF for ages (and nethack for that matter), but I couldn't imagine playing that level of complex game without being able to see properly.
I guess it's like the matrix though...
I will have to check this out.
I may play this game now.
You guys do realize DF still runs in its old ASCII mode, right? This is just an external application that you can have running alongside DF, but you're still going to have to input commands via the old DF interface.
Might give the game a try when/if they manage to turn stonesense into a GUI like they say they may do in the comments.

Nethack already has a ton of GUI mods and tiles you can use for it. I have never played it in the original ASCII but the tile set I have for it is easy to use and makes it alot of fun.
I'm currently playing a human tourist in Nethack.
The impossible has happened! Well, almost.
NO!!!! We can't let this happen! DF having graphics is one of the signs of the end of the world! WE MUST STOP THIS NOW!!!!!
It's really the lack of a decent user interface which keeps me away from Dwarf Fortress. It really seems like a wonderful game, and I certainly don't mind the ASCII, but unless they make the interface easier to use, I'll have to pass.
note that you can't actually play the game in that mode, you still have to control it using the ascii interface. but you can switch to the visualizer to see it in 2000 year old graphics. which look like crysis compared to normal DF.
ITT: wimps who can't play ASCII games.
Also, there have been tons of graphical mods for DF, this isn't the first by any means.
