I like the idea of a lottery/raffle type thing for new releases each week :) (pay in a dollar and then have random.org choose or something like that).
I would like GOGSwap not only for trading but also for gifting. So you can post your personal wishlist and people can gift you a game and then it's automatically deleted from the list so that nobody gifts it too. Basically the functionality GOG could also offer.

Hence I would call it fixGOG or GOGservices or GOGcomplete...

Well, apart from the fact that is illegal without a license in half the world ...

Oh really? I didn't know that!

FanGOG.com: GOGswap would be limited to game swapping... besides, we already have a nice logo :)

(and I like the fangog pun also)
avatar
Dzsono: Yeah, GOGswap is a bit limiting. It was a knee-jerk reaction to a post somewhere earlier in the thread about having a safe place to trade games. I probably should have included the quote for a bit of context ^_^

And also, if you don't mind me asking, what is the pun in fangog? Explain it to me like I'm 5 :)
Well, in northern languages, the letter "V" is sometimes pronounced very similarly to the letter "F".

The artist Van Gogh was Dutch, and as a consequence, his name can be pronounced "Fan Gogh". Given that the "h" is not pronounced very clearly, that can be approximated to "Fan Gog". Or "FanGog". Hence the logo.

But neither this clever pun nor the logo are from me.

ellynandroid: How about blogposty article things? Getting people to contribute might be a bit tough but I'm sure there are enough people here with writerly skills and cool ideas that you might be able to eke stuff out of the community. Hell, I might even try my hand at it!

Gazoinks: Not a bad idea. I volunteer myself and Jefequeso. :P
So, a blog? Does anyone here beside me thinks that ikiwiki would be a good idea?

it's not perfect but it's efficient enough, and I have some experience with it...
(it's possible to do a *part* only of the website with ikiwiki, if needed)

Dzsono: GOGswap.com is available, if that's a more suitable name for the site...

These names could be names of the part of the fangog site, like swap.fangog.com or gift.fangog.com, etc. What do you think of that?

That seems like a REALLY good idea.

I immediately started laughing after reading this sentence and I knew exactly what the pun was :) Perhaps the logo should incorporate a bloody ear resting on the side of the text? Probably a bit too much, eh?

Yes, splitting sections into subdomains is a really good idea!

Well, the artist who did the logo was the one who made that pun at first, and so, I believe that he did the logo with the work of Van Gogh in mind. And also, the more discreet a pun is, the better it is... isn't it? :)

Alright. Well, I'll configure that asap. Does anyone knows ikiwiki and has something against it? Or do you all agree with that system?
