For anyone with DirectTV in the Americas, the Far Cry movie is on tonight. To give you an idea of how good it is, I played the game, saw the movie, and assumed their having the same title was just a coincidence. When someone told me that it was in fact based on the game I told them they must be on drugs. :)
>Directed by Uwe Boll

Nope, not gonna watch that
Isn't it another classic Uwe Boll film? Which is to say: shit?

I enjoyed it, thought it was one of Boll's "better" films. ;)
I really shouldn't be so harsh. I will no doubt watch it again. I love bad movies. No, I take that back, I worship bad movies. I'll watch Far Cry, then I'll pop in my special edition DVD of Doom. POP was actually a well done movie, so I wont watch that crap!
By any standards it's almost as bad a movie as you can get. But if not taken seriously I was satisfyingly entertained. So if you're not a movie snob I'd say chances are you'll find it entertaining.
It wasnt that bad movie plus Far Cry had stupid story so it fits well.

That's a man of my heart! I'm a huge crappy B or even worse movies fanatic. Love them. :)
Yeah, I can agree that there's an appeal in watching some really bad films seeing as they can be really hilarious. You can seriously take the piss out of every scene and have a good time with your friends watching some of them.
The game was boring as hell so Uwe's film must be an improvement since he actually had to put some kind of story into it since you can't make just an engine tech demo movie.

You would be surprised.

Dare I YouTube it? Dare I?

Someone mentioned B-movies. Still remember the day I came downstairs to find my dad watching a film called Plan 9 From Outer Space. I know, I know, it's a classic example and used often but, all the same, it stuck with me quite a lot for how ridiculous the whole thing is.
To be fair to Mr. Boll, I actually genuinely enjoyed In The Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale. It was perhaps one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and it had next to no entertainment value of its own, but it was the worthiest movie I've ever lampooned. If a movie is just decent, then lampooning isn't fun because there's not enough material to work with. If it's TOO bad, then lampooning doesn't have any joy because simply being in the presence of the movie can numb your mind and erode your spirit.

The Dungeon Siege movie was in the exact dead center of those two extremes. Far too terrible to be enjoyed on its own, but not SO terrible (e.g. Manos) that it was soul-crushing to experience.

Thank you for reminding me of that travesty I was forced to watch with my father years ago.

The biggest crime of that film was the dialogue, what the fuck are they saying its like their just talking in gibberish.

It was my Contraband (a film staring Mark Wahlberg) of the time.

Hey man, it made perfect sense to me! (For certain values of "sense.") And Ray Liotta was fully aware that this was a shit movie and took every opportunity to ham it up as much as possible. "Bring me the man they call... Farmer!" is one of the best lines ever. And who could hate the random butch-lesbian-vine-druids or "SUDDENLY, NINJAS!" These are the great moments of cinema. You just need to learn how to appreciate them.
