Holiday Sale Day 10: Santa Snapped!

Nervous, true. Very, very dreadfully nervous I had been--and am!--but why will men say that I am mad? Above all, the sense of hearing was acute--and the sounds, oh, the sounds of the little elves sawing, hammering, nailing, tacking--night and day, day and night.

It is not madness, no! They play their symphony in wood and metal and plastic and tinsel each night and I--master over the elves, ruler of the arctic kingdoms--I will finally play them my symphony. A symphony of blood! Now to rend, to rip, to tear, to feast! Muahahahaha!

--Kris "Kutter" Kringle

Uh, oh, kids. It seems like Blood (One Unit Whole Blood), Blood 2: The Chosen, Postal: Classic & Uncut, Postal 2: Complete, Carmageddon Max Pack, and Painkiller Black Edition, all together for just $11.94 on GOG.com for the next 24 hours--that's 75% off the full price!

Gamma may have gotten run over by a reindeer, but that's no reason to worry about Santa. It's probably just a phase. Pick up these great games and keep indoors, blasting away the bad guys, just to be safe.

If you hear a jolly, "Ho, Ho, Ho," though, you should probably run.

Pheace: I get that they kinda spilled the beans at the End of the World sale to beat out the Steam sale, and it was probably a good choice to do so. But it's going to make the remainder of the GOG sale a little dull it seems.
Given we now know how uninspired and boring the sale on Steam this year is, I disagree. But of course, without knowing it was probabyl a good idea. GOG.com for sure had a look on their sales data from last year and there probably was huge hit, once the sale on Steam started.
But well, that was a huge event and the current Sale is, IMO, even worse than their autumn sale.
Oh, and there IS one bundle I might still like to buy if it shows up again, as I didn't have the money for it during the End of....sale. Should have more in the next few days though. Hopefully just in time :)

JaqFrost: When is the special on Baldur's Gate going to happen?
Probably not during this sale. They mentioned Baldur's Gate is not on sale due to licencing issues.
Bought!

rodrolliv: I think so, but why do you consider it ultra terrible?

Austrobogulator: Well, I guess as a way of getting people to buy games on GOG instead of Steam, it was a good idea.

For me, though, it makes the sale 'done'; any chance of upcoming surprises has pretty much been thrown out the window.
Likewise, I just hope we will be presented with at least of a couple of new deals

It's certainly not particularly stellar so far on Steam either but even for how 'dull' Steam's sale is for now compared to what they used to be, it's still at the level most other retailer's sales are, including GOG's, with the exception that for GOG, we pretty much already know what's coming for the rest of the sale with an exception of 1 bundle, yet for Steam there's still no idea what's actually going to be on sale and for how much. (of course there's the obvious franchises)

If you want to compare them, despite how disappointed people are with the current Steam sale (which is mostly down to disappointments that there's no free gifts for achievements hunts like last year) it's still a normal sale, and at least still has some mystery to it.

I'd say beating them to the punch was still a bright idea, although it would be nice if they maybe quickfixed some more surprises for the rest of the sale.

Aw. :( Because of BG: Enhanced Edition, I presume? I suppose I shall pick off the bundles I was holding off on in anticipation of the BG bundle then.

The mystery of what the daily deal was going to be was a part of the fun of the GOG Christmas sale... it feels a bit like we stumbled on Santa's cache of gifts in their pre-wrapped state and have to act surprised on Christmas Eve/Day/whenever you open your gifts.

The hope and anticipation of a good sale on a game I'm excited for is a large reason I follow these sales, even still now when my wishlist gets ever smaller. It's just fun to participate in the shared excitement and sometimes even get swept up in purchases you otherwise would never have made. (not always a good thing).

It's like waiting for the mailman to arrive for a package you receive. It's fun, it's exciting, you find yourself looking out the window all day long, cursing the postal service when another day goes by without receiving it, and then it finally arrives! And you realize the anticipation was a large part of the fun :)

It will be in the XMas sale. See this which is a screenshot from their Facebook page. No idea when, but my bet would be on New Year's Eve.

Well, I am glad I was wrong! (see the previous post)
Now that I don't have any time to play games and have joined the throngs of game collectors, these sales are helping tremendously....

Sure I only want 2 of the games, but it's cheaper to buy all 5!

Maybe one day I'll get to play all these...

Maybe we'll see an RPG bundle then, before the year is out? :)
I love the smiley face on the 'You own this bundle message'.

I am loving Blood and I do recommend it to FPS fans
Well, looks like I'm buyin' Carmageddon.
You own this bundle:)

That's a first for me.
