The End Might be Near*. Better Play Some Games!

We don't really know if the Mayans were right
Will the 21st be the Earth's final night?
If it really is, we know we'd want to be
Spending our last hours enjoyably

The end of the world, and the bundles we bring
Are a wondrous package--an incredible thing
All the daily deals for the whole month today shine
We've even brought ones from the future in asynchronous time

Of all of the days of the year 2012
This is the one for gamers just like yourselves
To pick up some games before the world ends
And spend your last day having fun times with friends

Some say the world ends in fire--or ice
We think that neither ending sounds nice
If the world has to end--neither frozen nor flaming
The world should end in a way that says: gaming!

There's and [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/the_witcher_2]Witcher, and and [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/duke_nukem_3d_atomic_edition]Duke
And Deus Ex, , or [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/thief_gold]Thief
So before the world leaders launch thousands of nukes
Spend a few moments and suspend disbelief

Theme Hospital, , [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/caesar_3]Caesar 3 and Trine
It sure was nice living, but we're just out of time
Ultima Games, from 1 to game 9
The aliens are invading--we must hold the line!

, [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/wing_commander_1_2]Wing Commander, and indie FTL
Crusaders and Heroes of Magic and Might
The end is approaching boys; see you in hell
Bruce Willis can't save us from this meteorite

Quests for Kings and for Space and for Heroes and Glory
and [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/telltale_adventures]Telltale
The abyss is erupting--this will surely be gory
Frogs are raining down in amphibious hail

The world may be ending, our last day is nigh
So take this last chance to play games 'till you die!

*GOG.com in no way endorses The End of The World. We like it here. If you have a Death Star, a Death Ray, or a fleet of Cyber T-rexes with Lasers, please don't destroy the Earth right now. At least wait until we release that game that everyone's waiting for. And that one, too. No, that one probably will never happen.

mondo84: So there are 21 total promo/bundle pages today.

And the sale goes for 22 days.

It's probably a good guess that anything that was already a daily promo won't repeat, unless they do an encore on the last day.

Fictionvision: 3 of the games are singles that were grouped, so 19 bundles. I assume no repeat day with today's mega sale, That leaves 2 days with I assume 3 games each day. If Baulder's Gate 2 is one of them that leaves 5 games left.
Well if it's 5 games left, that might be the other 5 DnD isometric games (IWD1+2, PST, ToEE, and BG1 or maybe even NWN). Would be a nice finisher after having BG2 on sale xD

Also, I guess that I'll buy TLJ series, Nox, and Arcanum now knowing most of the bundles.
While this may be a small voice lost in the sea of opinions, I would like to remind everyone not buying games because they are only 50% off, that all the previous sales I witnessed (2010 and 2011) only reduced the price by 50% and no more, in some cases it was even less (D&D games in 2010 for example).

As such, I think the GOG team was up to something when they opposed such massive sales. It would appear that now everyone expects that the price will reduced by 75% and won't buy until that or even higher discount. I realise that bundles are not always the best deal, but are still better that if you have to deal with buying games only 50% off, as long as the majority of the games conform to you wishes. And before someone corrects me, I do know that there are severe limitations in this time of crisis on what people are able to buy.
Can at some point Baldurs Gate 2 go on sale, oh pretty please! Been dying to play it for ever now!
I have way too many games already to justify buying entire bundles (and some with games I have no interest in). I can indulge and get a game or two but these bundles are too big. For me at least.

Lifthrasil: ... Why not? The Witcher 2 is a great game offering hours of addictive gameplay and $8 for such a relatively new game is a really low price. ...
Of course age is always relative, but I would consider an 18 months old game not new anymore. From a sales perspective even more because after a few weeks normally a game sells much less often.

But one can see that the price drops tremendously, if only customers are a bit patient. Starting at 45$ and stopping at 8$ after 18 months equals a price-halftime of about 7 months. So buying every game only 7 months later than it's available let's you save about 50%. Buying 18 month later, let you save 80%. People should just wait more often a bit.

And I can recommend it for that price. Definitely.
Wow! So much bundle! So very much bundle!

Thanks GOG! I shall return the favor with a bundle of cash.

It should make it easier for people to decide their purchases today, then. That is, it's probably best to prioritize games that were already featured in promos in the past week as they are unlikely to pop up again. The first time deals for today should be daily promos in the next 2 weeks, so there will be another chance.
I'm not complaining but I wish GOG allowed us to make a bundle. For instance, pick any 6/7 games from End of World sale and get 75% off. I'm thinking about getting Indie Action Bundle but it'll be my 3rd copy of The Ball and I know I'll never touch Symphony. I'd also love to get Daedelic Bundle, but I've just bought Whispered World and Edna and Harvey. Besides, I think I have Chains of Satinav at GMG so I'll pass it, not to mention those bundles I only want a couple of games from

Oh, well, that's life :)

Immoli: GOG's special deals may be 75% off a bundle, but Steam, Gamersgate, and Amazon's special deals are 75% off specific games (a lot more than gog) and when they have sales on bundles. the bundle already had a special price to begin with. Using the Oddbox as an example again, if you bought the base games individually they would cost $20, but the bundle costs $15. Those are both without any discounts. GOG doesn't do that with their bundles. So they would take 75% off of the $20 price while Steam would take it off the $15 price.
When you are comparing Steam bundles to GOG bundles, you are comparing apples to oranges, because the GOG bundles take into account if you have some of the games from GOG already. Steam bundles don't care if you have some of the games individually from Steam already, you still have to pay for all the games in the bundle, again.

At times like these, I feel quite bad for GOG.
They go out of their way to give us ridiculous prices on all these games I only end up buying a few.
They are a business & need to make money too....

Trilarion: Oh I wasn't checking the languages, thought it's only whispered world, but also dark eye not available in german. Yes, that's sad.
On the other hand, judging from Daedalic's official statements in German forums, the German version of The Dark Eye will not be available outside of Steam, so it's either Steam, English version or boycott the game, and the Steam version is currently 39.99 euros, two times the price of the English version. Even discounted it would probably be more expensive than the bundle price here.

I considered just ignoring the game to show my disapproval of their German publisher's strategy, but then again, maybe one could make a case for supporting Daedalic's decision to at least offer the English version cheap and DRM-free. To tell the truth, I don't even know if the German version is actually superior or not. ;)
I picked up Daedalic Adventures Bundle + Jumpin' Indie Action Bundle. Pity that Deponia 2 is missing from the bundle, but awesome deals anyway!
