Worms Armageddon. Well it is hybrid that is actually fun?
Malevolent Scrotum

+1 for the giveaway , superman 64, now that game had to be an inbrid
So if the name of my favorite hybrid game just happens to be Malevolent Scrotum, am I just screwed?

Not sure if you would count it as a hybrid but Omikron had elements from other gengres thrown into it all over the place. It is a third person adventure but goes to 2D side scroll for fight sequences, FPS for shooting sequences then back to third person again for driving sequences. Then you get to pilot a battle mech and it become FPS like again.

You also saw some genre switching like this in the original Tex Murphy game, Mean Streets. It was your basic point & click adventure but with side scroller action scenes and a basic flight sim if you didn't use the cars autopilot.

Reever: Well, in my opinion, it is pretty good. The RPG elements aren't bad and you can shape your empire (or republic ;)) however you want. And most of the time, your choices have some consequences on the battlefield (less/more troops, less/more money etc.)
I heard that some strategy veterans aren't all that impressed, but I'm the opposite and I was pretty okay with the system. And the RTS part was cool too. Jetpacked Dragon FTW! :D

I'd recommend to watch a gameplay vid first, though. Better safe than sorry. Oh and I hope you have nothing against alliterations, since the characters' speech is full of that xD (guess it's a Larian Studios treat :D Will have to check how Original Sin and the old Divinity games are in that department :P)
Sounds excellent :D Probably gonna buy it at the first sale.

I actually never played Omikron, but I'll take your word for it :P

Thanks for the giveaway.

I'm a fan of Sting's genre bending so I guess I'll say Knights in the Nightmare which probably best can be described as a bullet hell tower defense rpg.

Battlezone. The 1998 Activision remake. Very fun combo of a tank sim, real-time strategy game, and a first-person shooter ( get out of the tank and manuever around ,swap vehicles, snipe). Interesting storyline, too. I think the game was ahead of its time and it's a pity this style of game hasn't been explored more.

Malevolent Scrotum
Im just taking the opportunity of posting those words.
By the way, nice rep Licurg.
Licurg on a sacrificial roll these days }:-D
Many thanks!

And since I love hybrid games, and since puppies will be shot if I don't play Sacrifice, I'll be in, and angry scrota be damned. As to a favourite hybrid, that would probably be Drakan, not so much for the finicky third-person action, but for the awesomest dragon flying action :-)

Wanted to specify that with "the opposite" I meant I'm a newbie when it comes to strategy :D Also, although you can shape your imperium during the campaing, there is only one ending, so don't expect any great reactivity ;)

I bought Omikron, haven't come around to try it though.

It's a tough question really.
First of all it's Sacrifice itself, I have a boxed copy that no longer works. That game was completely out of trends when it came out, not just gameplay but design wise. It was quite funny how you moved around and your minions around you followed in formation. Lots of biliant ideas. I like it because it's so different than anything else.
An other old favourite of mine is dungeon keeper. It may not have those different elements blended together like in Sacrifice, but running around in the dungeon you built as a minion is a ton of fun. This one also have a really great and unique atmosphere.
And for recent memory Divinity Dragon Commander is a great hybrid game I hope it's gonna be succesful and we get a sequel. :) I love the Imperium Galactica-like (and Reunion) decision making and story behind the RTS.

Dunno of many hybrid games... guess "revenant" could be counted as one.... has a unique combat system unlike other RPGs

In, and thank you for your generosity!

Recently I quite enjoy King's Bounty, at least when I have time to play games.

Obligatory mention of KoDP for its light RPG element.
I'm in for Sachys if permitted (otherwise not in); thank you for the giveaway. +1

I won Sacrifice from Licurg last go round and it is a blast; another good hybrid game is Penumbra (first person "shooter" meets adventure).
I'm in. Does FTL count? If it does, FTL is pretty great. It's like spaceship management meets roguelike.
