Trying to decide on which Intel CPU I should get. The i7-3770K or the i5-3570K. Trying to build a new computer w/ a new CPU, new MB and a new Computer case. The rest of the parts (Video card, DVD-Rom, Memory sticks,) I scavenge from other computers. Which of the two Intel CPU I should get?

are you going to use graphically intensive programs (not games. proper intensive programs like graphic designs), are you gonna run massive calculations? are you gonna edit hours of 1080p videos you made?

or just games and other normal stuff?

if just games.

i5 is okay.

are you going to overclock? if not. don't buty K cpu as it is just wasted money. and if you gonna overclock you need a proper heat sink for your cpu.
otherwise you will destroy your purchase.
The i7 might give you a few FPS boost above the i5 for gaming, but at that point your gaming bottleneck will be the GPU and not CPU.

If you do things like video editing or other CPU-intensive tasks then the i7 is the way to go. But if you're mainly making the decision regarding gaming, i5 is plenty good.

For gaming and many more multimedia applications, the i5 is really good (I have the i5-2500K, and not overclocked). The difference in price between the best i5 and the lowest i7 is noticeable, but the performance between the two not that much for normal use and gaming. Just make sure you have at least 6 GB in RAM and you'll be fine for the next couple of years ^_^

I'm not going to overclock the Intel and I never will. Just to play games if they are CPU/graphically demanding w/o any hiccups.
i5
the prices for i7 3930K - 39x0X are still high around € 300
for the i5 3570 under € 200

Better use the saved money for a nice SSD or graphic card

edit:
Whats your graphic card?

Not that much difference in gaming:

Here's a thought... wait a few months for the upgrade. Intel is supposed to launch the Haswell CPUs next month.

Going to use the EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1GB GDRR5.

That's a ship that never sails. They're always waiting to launch the next one, they keep putting it back, and when they finally launch their new range it's not that much better.
Ok,
your problem is the gc....it will slow down your performance....even a i3 would be slow downed.
i7 is out if you don't upgrade your card it would be a waste of money
with a i 5 a good combination would be an GTX 680 or HD7970 (+GHz Edition).
still good would be an GTX 670 or 7950 or 7870 with Boost

Here in Germany atm the Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3x is the most favored
price around € 250

True, but this is next month, if reports are true. Next generation will come next year, so a month of waiting doesn't seem that much.

I'll bet you a $9.99 game giveaway that it wont be next month. Care to take that bet?

Nope. :p
Unless you plan to do some heavy computing the i7 is a bit much.

the i5 will suit you just fine here are some straight apples to apples comparisons and charts for you:
