cogadh: There were some minor changes made to KotOR as well, though from what I've seen, they didn't actually change anything that has made a significant difference in most of the issues the game had.

TheCheese33: They wouldn't change issues that were always there when played on a less modern system. All they want to do is to make sure the game works great on modern systems. For the most part, that's all I really need out of them.

The problem is, the one obvious change they made (an already well-known tweak of the config file) is specifically designed to make the game work better and it doesn't. The Steam forums have a couple of lengthy threads going right now with people having issues that are commonly known to be fixed by this tweak, unfortunately, either the fix has become even less effective than it used to be when used with modern hardware, or they changed something else less obvious that prevents the fix from working.

Trulies?
Sweet.
Not because I need them, as I have them all already of course. (even the dire Outcast and the slightly better Academy)
But because it'll hopefully let some other people enjoy some of best FPS games ever. Dark Forces was fun and cool, but Jedi Knight and MotS were absolute classics imho.
It's a shame JK never seems to come up in the top pc games listings on things like gamerankings... i guess cos it was too early to get many reviews.
it's one of the handful of games i've ever bothered to play through more than once.

kais246: Would be nicer if they where coming here.

Agreed.
I'd rather Jedi Knight series be coming to GOG or Impulse.
Better to have them on Steam than well...nowhere (since it's out of retail print), if you ask me.
Awesome, can't wait.

Lucasarts chose Steam and D2D and we have to live with it I guess... whether it was DRM or sales numbers that motivated that, no one knows I guess.
Lucasarts has a very valuable catalogue, I wouldn't really blame them for wanting some protections.

This goes for me too. Too many problems with Steam to bother with. I'd rather buy the old boxed versions of these games from eBay than deal with Steam anymore.
(No offense to those who think Steam is the second coming. This is just my personal experience.)

you bet your ass. Lucasarts and steam can both kiss my ass. I got one cheek dedicated for each of 'em.

All of these re-released titles are ones that were very successful, paying for their budgets several times over, and have since been pirated heavily. Anyone who wants a pirated copy will already have one, but the fans will still jump on a re-release anyway.

Which begs the question where do EA have to kiss?

Indeed. Cracked LucasArts games are not hard to find. Adding DRM to them at this point is like a woman putting in her diaphragm after she's already gotten pregnant.
FUCK YEAH!
I got Dark Forces 2 working, using XP in VirtualBox. I spent around 5 cunting hours, trying out various virtualization software, using both 98 and XP to get it working properly, but it is fucking worth it! Hopefully it will work with various other games I've been having problems with.
