Went from 4GB to 8GB on my Acer Aspire 7750G-6662. I didn't push it in all the way the first time I tried starting it up, and it worked the next time. However, after about a minute it blue screened with an error about memory management. It hasn't again. I'm really glad it's now upgraded. Was this first blue screen a normal thing?

Might be a loose contact. I recommend re-installing the stick and making sure it's in there firmly, just in case it wiggles around a little bit in there again.

Hm, it hasn't blue screened again yet. It seems to be in there firmly, at the moment I'm thinking it was a one off. I figure if it does it again I'll check.
It shouldn't bluescreen at all, but it may have been a one-time fluke, perhaps caused by the first attempt when the memory stick wasn't inserted correctly.

There are stress test programs that let you check whether your memory works correctly. I tended to use the Aida testing/benchmarking suite, but there are probably free programs that do the job just as well (Aida is shareware).
You can try to check your RAM with this ;)

Ok, she just blue screened again. Going to poke at her RAM and make sure it's in.
I have an Aspire 722 went form 2-4 and i had a helluva time seating the ram correctly.

I would suggest running a full Memtest at least 3 passes to make sure you didnt get a dead stick... it happened to me on my server... 2 bad sticks... but we didnt know till much later after we spun up 4 VM's :(
Just made a memtest cd. I will be so pissed if the RAM is bad.

Edit: Then she blue screened as I was shutting down.

Edit 2: I expected the memtest cd to boot up when I restarted. Nothing happened. So I checked the disc. The .iso has another cd image on it. A .img file. Is... that normal?

I can't seem to get memtest86+ to work. It keeps on just starting up Windows normally.
Did you set boot order in the BIOS?

No, I haven't. Going to go do that now.
There's probably a problem with your new RAM, if it was the right one for your machine...

Try Ultimate Boot CD, a collection of tools for different types of hardware and devices, including memory checkers (like MemTest+) properly configured to run from a disc. You have to burn it on CD or DVD and set up your BIOS to boot from there, or select manual boot when your laptop is turned on (usually is with [F8]).
Just a simple answer to a simple question: no, that's not normal. If you're BSoD'ing something is wrong.

Redundancy is a good thing!
Just ran memtest86+ for 2 passes, no errors. Then as I was writing this, I blue screened again.

OK so stupid question, is the ram 100% compatible?

here is a link to a Motherboard scanner to tell you what is supported: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ put in your original 2gb stick run this and make sure what you bought is supported by your mobo.
