In summary:
The two "founders" of the group were flown to Valve headquarters (Read: bought off), and have decided to close the group.
It's funny how weak conviction is these days, eh?
Now, we all know that once screenshots and reviews of L$D2 started coming out, that a large portion of the group would forget the boycott, but it certainly stinks something fierce for Valve to undercut public opposition like that.
The members of the L4D2 Boycott weren't pissed at their group founders being bought off, they were pissed because they didn't get to go.
Hmm this gives me an idea... we should start a boycott group for something and hope to be bought out by whoever we're boycotting, extra cash is always welcome.
In summary, this has just been one huge advertising farce which most people fell for. Pathetic.

Boycott Left 4 Dead 3? Dibs on founder perks!

Let's boycott Fallout New Vegas. I'd love to see how that one's progressing.

I could do with a new camera.
I wouldn't call $33.75 a fair price when you have to have to buy 4 copies to get that price.
I'll wait until it's $20 and not a penny more.

You might be right. Still, I would like to see the PC L$D2 sales stats for people who bought L4D. The proof is in the pudding.
the comment threads on every other site seem to agree: the boycott was always a joke, and everyone's happy it's over with and can soon be forgotten.
It's interesting that "the point of the boycott was never to stop people buying L4D2".
To quote Joystiq (never a good idea): "So, by utilizing a boycott that wasn't intended to keep people from buying a game, you managed to force Valve to do something they certainly would have done anyway."

Of course $33 isn't fair. That puts the true cost of L4D Complete As Promised Edition at between $58 and $88.
In other words, people change their minds about the value of things.
That's quite the shock!

Suits me fine, I mean, it's not as if i was going to buy it anyway. We'll call everyone who signs up in the first <timeframe still undecided> a founder though, perks for evaryone!.

Indeed. Valve loved every second of it. Also, "L$D2" gives me horrible flashbacks of the GameFAQs community.
I've seen expansions for higher than $33, I'll take that as an expansion price.
