Apologies if someone has already brought up the idea!

So I don't know about most people here but I am awful at clearing my backlog of games (refer to:My Backloggery).

So the idea is basically a book club but for games. We set either a weekly goal of completing x amount of a game, such as a chapter or a certain amount of hours, or we set something like a monthly goal of completing a certain game (or shorter if the game is short). Then we have a group discussion about our experiences and likes/dislikes.

The main idea is to get people to 1) play their games! and 2) maybe try something new. The game doesn't necessarily have to be a GOG but it is more likely that most of us share some GOGs in common (plus they're cheap!).

So.... anyone interested?

EDIT: I'll update this post when we start a new game.

Let's Play Together #1 - Beyond Good and Evil (26/4/11 - ?????)

That's ... An interesting idea, really. No, it's quite a good idea. While I don't have nearly as much free time as I'd like to have, why the hell not, we'd just need to create a separate discussion for every game - that would actually work well if we created it in game's forum, for GoG games. And you need to pick a bunch of games and let people vote about which one to play first!
I'm very intriguing by this idea.
that's a great idea, i'd be very interested in giving it a go.
It's great to see people are interested.

A short list of games I'd like to do first are :
- Beyond Good and Evil
- Fallout
- Another World (a nice short game to start us off)

Suggestions of what other people would like to play would be really appreciated.
I'd be interested in doing this, assuming I own the game or would want to buy it.

yeah i'm up for Another World.
I'm wondering about how long, or open-ended games could be, before it becomes hard for the group to keep focus. I'd like the motivation to play some of the early M&M games or Betrayal at Krondor, but maybe they'd take too long and we would loose interest?
I may be up for this.

This is something I've wondered about because the more open ended games will either take too long to finish or be hard to set something like a weekly goal for (especially with people playing at different paces).

On the other hand some of the more open ended games give us the ability to share our adventure and see how it compares with what other people experienced in their adventure. Kinda like different interpretations to the same book.
I still haven't completed Beyond Good & Evil. I'm willing to go for that.
I may be up for this, on a game-by-game basis, at least.

Good idea!
Sounds interesting, though I would hope that you could make room for someone who would be doubtful to ever meet the play goals but would still love to participate.
The 'deadlines' won't be strict at all. They're basically a guideline on how far the discussion should go (to avoid spoilers or something). I for one am quite busy with university so I don't have much time to play games. I just really enjoy talking about and sharing my experiences with games.

People are welcome to jump in or out whenever they want.

I'll round up everyone's suggestions at some point and we can have a vote on what we should play first.

Heh, AND I'll immediately have to pass on this one - I always wanted to finish beyond good and evil but it hates my graphics card, I HAVE finished Fallout like bilion of times and I don't have money for Another world :D

I'd suggest Original War, but I doubt anyone owns it.
