WBGhiro: Btw has anyone seen the fan episode, Double Rainboom? It's surprisingly good.
avatar
orcishgamer: That was freaking hilarious, very well done.

jefequeso: So season 4 isn't out yet, and probably won't be fore a few months. Anyone know how long it might take to get to Netflix? I'm not familiar with how they handle those things. Are episodes released on Netflix as they air, or will we have to wait until the end of the season?

If so, it sounds like I'll have to pace myself through season 3 :(
avatar
orcishgamer: Netflix gets them after awhile, my kiddo tells me season 3 is already out on Netflix, for awhile it was as they aired, but it's not always that way, sometimes it lags by quite a bit.
Yeah, Season 3 is on Netflix. Not sure when it actually ended.

Maybe I can catch Season 4 episodes on youtube? Or maybe I'll just have to be patient, and spend that time having sex with my new wife? -___-

jefequeso: I thought it was ok. But I was really confused as to what it was trying to be. The animation and voice acting were both close to the real deal. They kept the lighthearted tone and the end moral. At first it seemed like they wanted to be as close to a real episode as they could. But then midway through the whole thing takes a flying leap (literally) into fanfic territory, and suddenly feels more like a piece of youtube satire than an attempt at being a believable episode.

And, the pacing of just about everything was really sluggish, making it rather hard to watch.

I dunno. It just ended up feeling weird to me in many ways. Even though a lot of care was put into it, there wasn't a moment where I forgot it was a student film project by MLP fans rather than a real episode.

dracomage1996: Did you check out snowdrop? I myself thought that snowdrop felt like a real episode, only shorter and minus the main characters. and it made me cry. alot.
Snowdrop was really nice. The whole tone was completely different than real MLP episodes, though. Still, at least it knew what it was trying to be.

According to some post's Netflix gets the entire season about a month after it ends rather than individual episodes. Don't know if that is 100% accurate, but you can take that into your calculations about how to watch it. Episodes usually pop up on video sites or live streams during or shortly after they air if you don't want to wait for Netflix.

Yeah, or any of the YouTube like sites.
So... opinions on the upcoming Equestria Girls movie?

I'll probably see it when I have spare time, can't say this trailer has gotten me excited. I did get a chuckle out of Twilight taking a bite out of the apple.

The skin coloration reminded me of Doug.

Eeeeeh, I don't really want to jump on the hatewagon, since the writers already have proven they actually can make things like a pink pony princess, and Twilalicorn work. But this... the human models just look just awful and bland to me, plus the whole high school drama thing? Ugh.

I just hope whoever's in charge for this knows what he's doing (and in case they don't that this thing gets bruried and forgotten quickly, so we can return to the regular program).

To me, the fact that it will star humanized ponies and will take place in boring old reality (in the cesspool of Highschool, no less) negate the pluses of having the same voice actresses and writers on board. And the implication that Twilight is going to have some awkward "nerd girl + hunky jock" romance is... *shudder*. Here's hoping that ends up being a false rumor.

Even if it turns out to be amazing, I'm really hoping it's just a side thing that can be ignored and doesn't start muscling in on the show.

I still might (very slim chance) see it, since there's not much else to do until season 4 comes out besides rewatch seasons 1-3. Or read fan fiction, I guess, but... no. Just no.
You can read the comics while waiting for the next season.

it wouldn't surprise me, in fictionland the first person seen of the opposite sex is almost always the love interest. :/

Speaking of comics, so far I've only read te first and some of the micro series, the former seems to be pretty good: nice art style, and while personally i think it's a bit too focused on references the writing's not bad either.

I'm prety disappointed with the micro series though, the drawings have a noticeable worse quality and a lot less detail. The twilight one was still ok though, it was really uninspired, but overall still charming, but the Rainbow Dash one was pretty damn meh, the writing was completely focused on making as many refences as possible (although I do admit one made me actually laugh pretty hard) and someone was trying way too hard to make dialogue for her: as in every sentence has the word "Awesome" or variations in it. Plus half of the time it was completely out of character, so yeah.

My sentiments exactly.

I haven't picked up the comics yet, but I plan to once an omnibus or compilation is released. Mostly because I have this habit of marathoning my entertainment.
Well I did it, I watched the entire series as of now (well I skipped episodes I did not care for, mostly of that Applejack character), but I did not turn me into a complete Brony, just on my list of good cartoons along with Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars Clone Wars, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Sym-Bioinic Titan.

Sadly I still don't understand why this series is so popular on the internet, something to do with the show using flash animation from a source I read, oh well in the end its a good kids show, better than Cartoon Networks bad cartoons like the Problem Solverz :P

so, I'm now watching the first episode of fourth season and I'm so thrilled - it seems it's going to be a crossover with The Secret World game! :D
