update to my rant:
Having Empire Earth not working was what really threw me over to being very irritated. I was slightly irritated with the other problems before that incident, but I wouldn't have made such a long post if those were the only problems I had.
I actually found a solution to the problem with Empire Earth. It was my Zone Alarm Security that was causing the game to freeze when I started a new campaign. It was late when I was trying it last night, and it didn't occur to me till today while I was at work that it was Zone Alarm doing it. So I turned it off when I got home and the game works now (so far anyway).
I had also found a solution to the color problem in Fallout 2 before I made that reply, so that is taken care of also. I just mentioned it because it was at one point frustrating trying to figure out the proper solutions(The one that worked for me is actually incredibly simple compared to the alternative suggested solutions. I just have to have a computer window open like Music, Downloads etc while the game is running, and the funky colors disappear).
Still haven't havent found a solution to Giants, and don't feel like messing around with Freespace 2 beause that game is a huge headache ( to the person who asked what's wrong with it, I've downloaded it about a dozen times. I got the corrupted file message a few times and for the remaining downloads my pc froze while trying to run it)
Anyways, I feel better now that Empire earth turned out to be OK. Two bad purchases in a few days put me in a pisser of a mood, but only one bad game is easier to handle. Thanks for your help.
