hedwards: You should at least play AC:B, IMHO it's better than AC2.

KylieM: Is it okay to play that one without having any others of the series? I have that on disc somewhere, but thought I would need AC1 first...
I'd skip AC, personally. I've tried on more than one occasion to finish it, and it gets exceedingly tedious about half way through the game. AC2 and AC:B are much better. Plus, the out of Animus plot doesn't really start until AC2 anyways.
Vaguely curious about historical/geographical setting.

But I expect it to complete the shift towards the sims, so, not thrilled on the gameplay perspective.
Another one?!! I have yet to play Revelations and III... (O_o)
Hey that's dynamite now release AC 2 on GOG
Not only that Ubisoft is also hints at a Far Cry 4 coming sooner

I just started III, the formula gets old pretty fast when Ubisoft won't give us time to miss it.
I still haven't finished Revelations and I actually liked that game, I guess I'm just kinda tired of this series by now.

KylieM: Heh, was talking to someone who works there - I see they made up their mind.
Mwa ha ha, insider knowledge. ;)

I want an Assassin's Creed taking place in the stone age! With clubs that come out of your hand that you use to assassinate rich cavemen!
assassin creed should have ended with ac1 which i still couldnt bring myself to finish, not only because it was annoyingly boring but the since the whole plot came to an end and it was a very crappy 2012 didnt end plot, assassin creed could have been a awesome crusader era plot telling partialy real story of the hassasin,

hedwards: What do you mean? I got the feeling that they decided this about the time that they were declaring AC3 to be the end of this particular story.

KylieM: Don't know how much he'd like me to say, but they had a meeting deciding the team or something. Can't really remember, have to ask again.
How do you get this information from him? I'll have to interrogate him next time I see him :P

Personally I'd thought they'd have done connor in the french revolution due to being pretty close timeline wise?

StingingVelvet: Despite the high sales numbers I thought the American revolution was kind of a failure as a setting for an Assassin's Creed game, so I am happy to hear a new era is coming. I hope it is Victorian London.

I also thought Assassin's Creed 3 was kind of poorly made. By the time I got to the traditional gameplay, like 6 hours in, I was so bored I moved on to another game. All the new mechanics fell flat for me as well. I still haven't finished it.

I loved 1 and 2 but it's been downhill since for me.
Honestly, I thought AC3 was a lot better. There were certainly issues with the new control scheme but I found it less obtuse overall. Also, it completed a story arc, so now they have a more blank slate to play with. But finish my damned DLC already Ubisoft, paid for it and been patiently waiting!
