WBGhiro: Dude... this website is all about old games, of course they are they way they are. and i find them better than most newer titles.
JacobNZ: Yes but there is a limit I mean I don't mind fallout or septerra core but these graphics are abit to old school for my tastes. Also judging by the pictures the gameplay isn't much better.
edit: :( looks like I opened up a hornets nest
Wow, you have completely missed the point of GoG. The people who like to play these old games do so
because the games have the graphics and gameplay they do.
It is just a fact that games today are being made in a different way, with a different philosophy and most importantly for a different (read: bigger) audience than they used to be. This is not necessarily a bad thing, there are lots of great and interesting games being released even today, and older games often contain unnecessary frustrations that have been remedied in newer game designs, but in my opinion old games and even really, really old games have a charm and a "creative spark" that is rarely found in modern games.
Much of that can be attributed to personal feelings of nostalgia of course, but for me the most important argument in favor of preserving and playing these old games is that
"they don't make 'em like this anymore".
Some of these games are masterpieces of design, programming and even graphics considering the hardware that was available and they deserve to be preserved and played by people who can appreciate this. If you can't derive pleasure from these old games, you don't have to, but please don't assume that nobody else can.
