As our first release from Anuman Interactive, we present to you the first part of the Syberia series and 2002's Adventure Game of The Year. Get ready to take your first steps on a journey full of wonder!
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/syberia]Syberia is an adventure game created by Microïds under the tutelage of comic artist and game developer Benoît Sokal. It's as much a game as a work of art, filled with art nouveau décor and steampunk elements, most notably devices based solely on clockwork. The game tells the story of Kate Walker, an American lawyer sent to a remote French village in order to finalize the takeover of a world-renowned toy factory. Things gradually get more complicated and soon Kate embarks upon an unthinkable, life-changing journey across the world. As an added bonus, you can experience Syberia's enthralling story in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish!
awesome addition!
I love this game, its one of those rare games where there is no evil boss or villain, just an amazing adventure.
Syberia is probably my favourite post-2000 adventure game. Should be an instabuy for everyone who likes the genre.
Wonderful adventure with amazing visual ideas and set pieces.
I only know the German version so far. Will get this one to play it in English again.
Wonderful game I never got a proper chance of getting before I forgot about it. Will grab this weekend.
Interesting, anyone else notice the Windows 7 compatible and language choices in the product description. Also there for Syberia 2 and Amerzone. Will either of both be standard for future GOG releases?
Having said that, most GOG games are compatible with windows 7 out the door, although the language choices are nice for those for whom english is not their 1st language.
I've heard a lot of good things about this series. Wish listed.
Yes! I've been waiting for this game.
Incidentally, my sister's name is Kate Walker. I think I'll be buying this game an extra time for a gift.
If you like adventure games, this one is a must-play. It's more tightly focused than The Longest Journey and more naturalistic; instead of magic and mysticism, there's clockwork and modern technology. Instead of a cryptic war between magic and non-magic, there's a domestic mystery that Kate must unravel. Finally, Syberia's setting is beautiful, and the atmosphere is haunting, but not menacing. As someone pointed out, there is no great evil to fight, nor any worlds to save; but there is a poignant mystery to be solved.
Wahooo! I've got both 1 and 2 in a loft somewhere.... Beautifully written games with engaging storyline. Payday tomorrow is just in time :)
Will be picking up for sure :D
it's a great game!!! But if you don't like it that your games are sad or full of melancholy then you might not like it. The whole game has this sad vibe, but in a good way....it's difficult to explain. One of my all time favorite adventures.
Syberia 2 video is showing "Private Video".
I have played both 1 & 2. I have 1 for the PC and 2 for the XBox. I will probably pick up 2 here so I have them both for the PC. They are an amazing story. One word of caution though, they are very long games. Don't start playing them until you are ready and have the time. They are so immersive that they will suck the time right out of your day.
This is awesome!!!
Syberia is one of the best adventure games I've ever played -- it stands there right along side the Longest Journey and Myst, imo.
I'll probably end up buying this and Syberia 2 once it comes out!!
Syberia has always been a mixed bag for me. A poor interface combined with a great setting combined with rather dead locations and a lack of characters combined with decent puzzles combined with some weird puzzles ... The first time I played it, I deleted it in disgust. The interface was really badly thought out and I just didn't get into the atmosphere of the game due to the locations feeling so dead and static.
The second time, I forced myself past the rather dull start of the game and found it's actually a decent game although its flaws never quite disappear - some more animation and better ambient sound would have gone a long way.
Stop reading my mind and being so awesome, GOG. I can't play games _that_ fast.
Also, it's great news that this seems to be the first multilingual release on GOG. I hope to see more in the future. Adventures are great games for people learning new languages.
