i dont think age varifications are possible. If they were then other big digital distributers would already be doing it. Steam has problems i know with germany. they have to force the german version of games to be cut. like unreal turnement and counter strike source

There are possibilities to make age verifications in Germany. The easiest but maybe not sufficient way would be that German users have to send a scan of their pass to gog so that they have a proof that the users age is correct. The difficult and expensive but save way would be that all German users who want to download games which are banned in Germany (even thats not so easy, in theory every game which has not been tested by the USK is not allowed to be openly sold, on gog are just the english versions of games, so proboably none of them is tested by the USK so it is not legal so sell them to people under 18 and accepting the terms of use and a self-made age declaration is absolutly not sufficient according to the german law and court decission) have to participate in the "Post Ident Verfahren". That means the postman will check your pass and he will verify the users age by sending a certification to gog. Thats how german online video stores handle this problem. It is expensive (i think its a one time fee of 6€) but it's propbably the only and safest way to stay out of any legal affairs in Germany.
I'm sorry for this but our politicians are crazy and some even want to prohibit the programming of so called "killer games" like Crysis....

And gamers hate our government for exactly this, but thankfully there are still ways to get US Versions from Steam. I remember when Fallout came out in Germany, a Gameshop i still went to wanted 20 bucks extra for the imported US Version. I dont think the german gobernment can do anything against GOG as long as they dont begin selling from a german server/domain, many sites with "risky" content like list of cuts from games just switched to an Austrian or other EU Server/Domain and run just fine. But i hope that even with a German GOG uncut Verions of Games will still be available

I'm against translated games simply because... Translations always suck. Badly. They suck more than a Dyson ever could.
So, I'd be more than happy to let GOG stay Enlish-only, at least with regards to German versions.

Translations suck? There are some games that weren't originally english here, too. So they are translated - and I think if there were another language versions, you could at least choose, which one do you want... I hope so...
Edit: Hmm... Ore are they? Original War IS a Czech game, as well as Flashpoint, but I have no clue which version came out first... I think it was a czech one, though...

Whenever you translate something, you loose a part of it. Puns, double entendres, subtle links to (then) current and local events. [As an example, try to get the following into your language, and keep the joke: "Matter, Anti-Matter and Doesn't-Matter"]
Some translations manage to be "good enough", but there just isn't such a thing as a "good translation". That's why I always prefer to watch/read/play any movie/book/game I get my hands on in its original language, and sometimes even learn it, if I don't already know it.
And really, if someone has trouble with English nowadays, and is online... Tough luck. *shrugs*
(Also: German translations ALWAYS suck in major ways.)

An agreement with the most important european distributors? Maybe for the pal5 area (English + French, Spanish, German, Italian), maybe with a price surplus for the translated editions of the games.

I don't know about you, but I would much rather play the English version than pay more to get a localized one - especially since German versions suck anyway (in most cases). And that's not even considering that a lot of games have been cut for the German version.

If you think anything to German sucks, try out anything from Russian. It either loses all sensibility, or runs rings right round itself. Which is a shame, because Russia seems to be home of the last great box of completely original, awesome games, beyond but a few publishers out here.

If GOG pays only a % fee for each game sold for the translation, there isn't many problem to offer more choices to the potential buyers.
A good services is made by the choices and the possibilities it offers.

Well, I would like to have some translated games. At the moment you can life with the english versions of the games, but if you could buy titles like Arcanum and so on, then I would prefer a german version, because then I can understand it better.

Funnily enough that was EXACTLY the game I had in mind. Great minds and all that XD.

Ok, so we wait and hope the best :). In case you can't offer all language versions at once for a game it would be nice if you can chose the language version before you buy the game and if possible you should be able to change the language version for all the games you bought untill that point.
