I don't smoke anything anymore but when I use to live in a bong it wasn't a question of what games made me paranoid but rather which ones DIDN'T make me paranoid.

I can't remember which Thief game it was ... but there is this level in an 'abandonned' asylum or orphanage .... I couldn't get through it for some reason. The atmosphere was way to heavy.
I read later that the level designer got some award for this job.
The most disturbing/ridiculous thing in this story, is that I beleive the level was people-empty, and I stopped playing it at this point. This game is my personnal top-mark for immersion and ... atmosphere.

Silent Hill, Penumbra, Amnesia... Most Horror games really. One game that suprised me though was "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream." It's Not scary like some of the others I listed (I'm not too far yet it could get worse) but there's just something "wrong" about the whole thing, it's eerie. Also, Yellow, just yellow.

I would say Thief 3 is a game with a great atmosphere especially when you know the hag could be lurking around the corner or zombies pretending to be dead and then jumping you oh and don't get me started on these guys http://thief.wikia.com/wiki/Puppet
