Note: Following some discussions with Iceberg Interactive, we have been asked to remove Dark Matter from sale while the developer addresses the fact that the game's ending has some problems. The game will remain available for download for anyone who has already bought it. The developers have stated that they are working on a patch as a solution to this, and as we mentioned yesterday, anyone who wants a refund on their copy of their game is free to contact Support and we'll take care of you. Our apologies about this, and we hope that this helps address the problem. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Dark Matter, a Sci-Fi thriller that challenges you to explore the dark corridors of a defunct spacecraft where light is as scarce as the resources you need to survive.

What is Dark Matter? Imagine you're stranded in a giant defunct space exploration vessel, and you are not alone on board. There's an ominous alien parasitic presence lurking at every corner, hiding away in the air-shafts, creeping through the conduits. This is a metroidvania-type title set in deep space, where no one can hear you scream, curse at your enemies, or call for mummy when you're lost in the vast labyrinth of dark corridors. In this non-linear survival and exploration action game you'll be challenged to make it through 14 danger-filled areas designed in the spirit of the darkest gritty hard S-F. With four upgradable guns, crafting mechanics, resource management, dynamic lightning that genuinely affects gameplay, and a reactive soundtrack, this gripping game is sure to stop your heart a few times as you play.

LaithArkham: Is it just me or does the character never run, but always walks, in all of these videos? That seems to be a bit of a flaw in design there, if you can only walk about at a leisurely pace even in the middle of combat.

Still looks interesting, definitely wishlisting.

JudasIscariot: You CAN run but then your character runs out of stamina :)
Ah ha! Good to know they have that feature then.

Your description of the crafting system vis-a-vis the player keeping themselves stocked up also makes this game sound even more interesting. I am definitely considering buying this...

mkell_226: Looks kind of like System Shock 2 meets Abuse. I'm intrigued...
This was my first impression as well. That's a pretty good combination.
Looking great...i love sci-fi...in the basket!
Looks good, but gameplay as seen on youtube is terrible.
Another release already? Madness!

Indifferent about the 10% discount, but the game itself looks very interesting. Might get a copy some time later this year.
So much cool stuff in so little time... wishlisted!

xxxIndyxxx: Wow they really need to fix that gameplay video. It looked interesting in the screenshots but after watching that video i lost all interest....
Hmm either whoever was playing it is not very good at it and didn't even try to avoid getting hit by that alien green projectile or the controls are not responsive enough to avoid it, hard to tell. You are right that video doesn't help to sell it.

Licurg: I HAVE NO MONEY AND I MUST BUY !!!
I know that feel, bro.

And this games looks good. Reminds me of Alien 3 for SNES/Genesis.

After checking into this title on the Steam forums and reading feedback from users and the developer in a thread there, I came here to write a review for the game and will post it here as well as a warning to you guys. I hope you find this information useful but of course feel free to ignore it as desired:

You should be aware that this game such as it exists currently is the product of a failed kickstarter and the developer has publicly admitted (see the game's forum on the Steam forums for details) to sewing up and shipping half of what they intended to create once the kickstarter failed. There is roughly six or so hours of gameplay out of an initial design for about 15 hours of gameplay. Users have noted things like weapons introduced in the tutorial that you never see in the game because the game was never finished. In fact you are eventually and abruptly treated to a "to be continued" screen as the game's "ending." I don't think telling you that constitutes a spoiler - it is a warning.

So, if you are okay with half a game for full price which as indies go is already high, by all means I hope you enjoy what they did manage to ship. I just thought I owed it to others to warn you that you aren't getting a complete, finished game for your hard earned money here. Whether that is okay with you is of course as always, your call but at least now you know before deciding whether to buy it or not.

That's when you wish the developers had sought out different revenue models... It is fine to wanting to stay independent (independent as in not getting a publisher), but there are other ways to generate income than Kickstarter... I wish they had tried to alpha / beta found the game, or more openly gone for an episodic model. I am interested in this game, but I knew about this history and I am still waiting a little bit before getting it (and I have been playing Creeper World 3 non-stop for a week now, so not time for any other games at the moment...)

I was interested myself after viewing trailers for the game. It looks like they were off to a good start. It is too bad they didn't finish it but much worse in my opinion that they then put it up for sale at 20 bucks regular price for a game that is literally half-baked.

If this is all true, its a bit of a dissapointment. Half a game and dev still released it?. Wonder if GOG knew this before they took this game on?

Good question. I hope not.
Ha, i learned from Montague's Mount not to buy anything again without user reviews. It looks like this saved me money.
Oh please, not this issue again.
